Description
The first vessel designed by the Free States of America it is built out of the many hopeful programs and spectacular failures that the USN had such as the Zumwalt class and LSC programs. It was meant to take working technology and cast aside the countless mistakes. The purpose of the vessel was to revamp steel production and begin development of a ship with enough weapons to protect carriers. With threats from missiles and submarines increasing from around the world it was decided the ship would spam the enemy attacks. The ship has two drone launch bays on its flanks to increase alert zones that deploy hot air balloons that would drift into enemy territory. Ship defense for all Block 1 vessels is a quartet of Goalkeeper 30mm Gau-8 avengers with 5000 rounds of ammunition at the ready and up to 8 RIM-116 RAM missiles. All block 2 ships would add a pair of lasers to the ship, and the block 3 model would see particle cannons replace the Gau-8 entirely

Air defense and tracking is handled by AN/Spy7 AESA radar AN/SPQ-9B surface search and fire-control radar both can be extended by use of drones and hot air balloons. The ship features a 155mm cannon that can function against a wide range of targets from surface targets to submarines. The ship has space for one VTOL craft like UH-16 Kite or V22 Osprey. The Cleveland class is 160m long despite this size being mostly about spammed defensive fire does come with a down side. First it leaves most of the ship's weapons at the forward section and second the crew has to share space similar to submarine hot bunks. In all the destroyer's crew space issues would be corrected by adding an additional section and increasing the tonnage from 9600 to 12000 which would see the ship enter the true cruiser ship rating akin to the Long Beach Class.

Anti-submarine warfare is largely handled by the use of loitering munitions or a swap out of the air-defense missiles with torpedoes. The ship uses an armored steel composite material which grants it a level of protection against many missiles. The democrat air strikes on the uncompleted hull was largely unscathed by hellfire missiles. The Cleveland class had almost no impact on the second Civil war as it was still being constructed when the Harris Administration launched an unprovoked attack on Houston. However by the time of the Pan-American war it was able to perform a wide range of war fighting missions.
