Description
Uhuhu it begins.

Summer:
Scott and Alex Townsend made the trip to Austria with little urging. They were looking to add eventing Obertaurers to BCC’s Warmblood Sector, and the lure of an auction from the breed’s original gentlers was too great for them to ignore. So, after ensuring their two daughters would not destroy the stables in their absence, they hopped on a plane and flew across the world.
Imperial Stables was impressive, to say the least. A giant expanse of architectural dream buildings and sprawling paddocks, the Austrian equitation base screamed money and prestige. The people occupying the place, however, were kind and welcoming to the flocks of eager buyers, Scott and Alex included.
The Obers on show were equally as impressive. Their builds ranged from fuzzy and squatty to sleek and imperialistic. There were two eventers in particular that the Townsends were eager to purchase, and their proverbial wallets sat heavy in their pockets as they drooled over the bloodlines and pretty horses.
On the evening before the auction, however, the two of them were walking the grounds when the thundering of distant hooves drew their attention. Alex scuttled off after the sound, ever curious and not a bit nosey, with her husband trying vainly to call her back to the main path.
The Ober was a brilliant gold in the evening light, hide shimmering and nearly blending in with the background. The human riding her was equally as impressive, with coal-dark hair and dark skin that glowed amber. The woman rode without hands, the reins tied up in a knot at the mare’s neck. She clutched a bow in her right hand, but no quiver was in sight.
And the mare… oh the mare. She was bolting down the path they were on at a full sprint, white legs blurring as her hooves pounded on the cement. The tack the horse wore was piecemeal, like the rider had scavenged a bunch of unused pieces and threw them at the last minute to take the horse for a spin. She seemed to be practicing riding handless, balancing in the stirrups and standing up when she could, then wobbling and plopping back down. She wasn’t very good, had probably only just started training herself, but the potential was glaringly obvious.
“I want that one,” Alex said without preamble.
“Which one?” Scott laughed. “The horse or the rider?”
“Both.”
Her husband chuckled again, thinking she was joking. She wasn’t.

Convincing the pirates to let the horse and rider pair go had been… difficult, to say the least. The mare was in fact a younger filly named Globo D’Oro, four years old and only just getting the hang of cross country endurance, but she came from strong racing bloodlines that made Alex drool. She went for a painfully large sum of money, but the Townsends were wrapping her legs in BCC blue soon enough.
Morgan Laurier was equally as difficult to steal away. She was only an intern there for six months, but already well loved. The pirates had also noticed Morgan's potential and had been laying the groundwork to get her to sign on with them full time, and they had an equally fat wallet. In this instance, however, luck was on the Townsends’ sides, for Morgan’s family lived in New York state and she had always planned to return when her internship was up.
“I miss my mom,” she said simply. “I miss her a lot.”
And so Scott and Alex loaded three Obers and a human onto a plane, Morgan choosing to ride with Goldie to keep her equine companion calm. The flight was uneventful but long, and the entire company touched down on Kentucky soil with a collective grateful sigh.

Introduction piece for Morgan and Goldie. I am quite pleased with it.

MASSIVE shoutout to abosz007 for not only the pone, but also the background stock and permission to incorporate RPS into the story. The auction mentioned isn't any particular auction, sorry folks. I wish.
