Hey there.. It's been three years and a half, buddy!So as promised.. I started re-working that good ol' derg with new shaders, a sculpt, brand new textures, and more knowledge. Here is the first pass on this project!
I started reworking him this morning, from almost nothing but a skin albedo pattern I kept from so long ago. And so far am pretty content with what I have for now.
There is still some stuff to do, both in shading and rigging, of course. After all it's only the first day of re-work.
I actually can't open its mouth more just yet cause it has no tongue...o3o
Using vector DP; Normal, albedo, and procedural shading work (including pre-computed masks), so far.
I will update again ASAP! Hope you guys like how it's just starting to look like.
Maya, Mudbox, Photoshop, Renderman.

This is by far the best fan made toothless rig/model i've seen, great work!!! Do you ever plan to to release the file for use? i'd love to animate it

Just remember watchin' you develop the model and rig few years back. Was good times my dude.

It was yeah, haha. Was pretty nooby back then! And the whole thing worked.. but was messy as heck.

Oh well back in the days I wanted to make a short film with it, but this was years ago and I was still quite unaware of what's involved in doing such. I may do something someday, when I'll have time, and if I can, something that'd last a minute or so, maybe.. But I have other projects involving a character of mine, so honestly I'm really not sure. I may just end up doing some fancy poses in a micro environment, like statues, it's more reasonable than making something animated of this length on my own.
