I finally decided that this sweet boy deserves better than his old
backstory, so I just went ahead and updated his entire reference :')

Originally, Mika didn't have any powers, until a scavenger mission went horribly wrong and he fell into an old tomb where he had a very painful encounter with a very powerful spirit referred to as the Sun Goddess that branded him with her mark which basically allowed him to burn people's souls (to varying degrees, depending on his level of self-control). It also changes his vision from being purely physical, meaning that he can only see waht is physically there, to being a weird mix between physical and spiritual. Basically, he can see into the spirit world at any given time. In fact, that's all he sees, 24/7. Luckily, because of the mix of 80% spiritual vision and 20% physical, he can still perfectly navigate and shit.

Traits:
Old habits die hard
Growing up in a very unsafe environment for his entire life certainly left it's marks. Not just literally, but also in the sense of habits. One very important habit that he had to develop very early on was caution. Something as simple as taking one wrong step could get you killed, and as such he was always pressured to approach every scenario with it. Carefully examine it, twist and turn it in all imaginable ways and make a well-evaluated conclusion of yay or nay. No in-betweens. This didn't just apply to his environment, but people too. He has met his fair share of shady people and so he is a cautious person by nature. This has also led him to become incredibly patient.

Trust no one
Tying in with the aforementioned point, he has a hard time trusting people, or anything at all. Partly due to his cautious nature, he tends to always approach people as if though they are not to be trusted. This has proven helpful plenty of times when he has encountered other people in old ruins or on scavenger missions. No one is to be trusted until they've proven him otherwise. This doesn't necessarily mean he won't ever trust anyone, just that he is quite hard to convince.

Books over people
One part of his personality that is a complete mystery is his introverted side. "Side" should be taken with a grain of salt, because it is actually one very big part of him. He always preferred books or other peaceful activities over social interaction. The reason why this is such a mystery is because, first of all no one else in their small family is even close to being an introvert. The closest one would be his father, but even he enjoys the company of others a great deal. It is only him that is this way, but it never bothered anyone; he got to keep to himself all he wanted as his parents thought it would help him grow and discover himself quicker, if he got to spend a lot of time with himself.

Someone needs a coffee
Suffering from minor insomnia, he is almost always tired. It's like a looming cloud that follows him wherever he goes and will only stop doing so after a possible over-dose of coffee. Seriously though, it would be of no surprise of 90% of his bodily fluids was coffee.

Actions speak stronger than words
This is something he likely inherited, or was taught, by his father. While his father certainly has nothing against social interaction, he is more of the quiet type that prefers to listen to a conversation rather than be part of one. Mika is like that too, only much worse. He isn't terribly good with words to begin with, and so he tends to either just remain silent or let someone else do the talking. Quite frankly, he's probably even a little scared of talking. Though I suppose this would be a great ability to have if he ever got kidnapped.

Who needs help anyways?
Being the solitary, quiet dork with trust issues out the ass that he is, he tends to want to do everything himself. It is almost to the point where it is unhealthy, as he'll often bite off more than he can chew and then say it's fine while desperately trying to clean it up as best as he can. This is something he believes others should do as well; not bite off more than you can chew, but rather take responsibility for your own messes. 'You reap what you sow'.

Kindness is key
One thing you don't often see is a thief, scavenger and pick-pocketer that he is actually really nice. Like, disgustingly nice. He acts more like a gentleman than any of the other men in his little "community" and will, without a doubt, offer you a helping hand if he thinks you need it, or deserve it. Most of the other lads focus more on the stabbing and less on the caring, but not Mika. He won't hesitate to stab you though; he's smart enough to know when people are abusing this generous, kind side of him. It has happened before and it didn't end well..

Fun facts:
- He is truly an amazing pick-pocketer, but a terrible negotiator and liar (unlike the rest of his family).
- He's a lonely dork but he doesn't really mind because he has his books, and that's great. He's a well-educated child.
- He has a great poker face. Nothing Aiden can't break through, but he is a formidable opponent.
- The first person that made him smile a real, genuine smile filled with genuine happiness was Jenna .
- He and the trio (Aiden, Kion and Benni) are actually surprisingly close friends.

Likes
- Ironically enough, one of his favorite things are sunsets and sunrises. They remind him of his family and home, two things he can never see again, so it's sort of bittersweet.
- Quiet places like fields or forests are things he never really grew up with due to the harsh and much too dry climate of the southern region he lived in. However, he took an immediate liking to them the moment he set foot in one. It has a sort of silence you won't find anywhere else and it makes him feel better, and free of worry which are things he experienced too little of growing up.
- Generally, Mika is not a picky eater, but he truly loves fruit, berries and chocolate, preferably together all at once.
- Despite his introverted side, he is pretty adventurous and naturally curious without really knowing it.
- A rather rare side of him is his cuddly side. It's not as hard as you'd think to get a hug from this guy, since he has grown quite fond of them.

Dislikes
- For no particular reason, he hates the sharp sounds scraping sound metal makes, especially against surfaces like stone.
- People who lie to get attention or pity are one of few types of people that really get under Mika's skin. He's not one to judge and he has the patience of a saint but he just can't stand these types of people.
- As with most people, he hates seeing people get hurt. However, what sets him apart from "most people" is the fact that he feels very little for strangers. This means that he could look at a wounded stranger and just walk right past without any problems. However, nothing hits harder than family and friends, especially in Mika's case. Since this is all he's ever had, he'll defend it with his life if necessary.
- Loneliness. Even if it's just for a little while, he has come to hate it. Since his addition to team Aiden and Co he has picked up on a lot of things that he previously didn't have. This is one of them. Before he joined them on their little journey, he was completely fine with being alone. In fact, he preferred it that way. However, now that he knows how good it feels to be around people, and especially Jenna, he doesn't want it to go away. It's like seeing color for the first time; it's so great and you'd never want to be without it. He can be left alone though, and while he isn't "fine" with it per se, he'll do it. He's a grown man and can stand on his own two legs.
- Sort of tying in with the previous childish element, he is also afraid of the dark. This fear isn't as childish as it sounds though. Out where he grew up, in the desert, it is common knowledge that you don't wander around alone. In general, that's the rule of thumb anywhere in Naia*. 'Don't wander around unless you know what you're doing', especially not on The Lightest Frontier. This place is infamous for it's, ehem, "interesting" nightly activity. All sorts of things wander the desert at night, both alive and otherwise.

AAAAHHHH I'M DONE
I HOPE

This took me much too long. It was actually one of the first pieces I made after my little "hiatus"
of sorts. Since then I have just worked on writing this every now and again.
Writing a description like this is HARD. Much harder than I remembered it being. But alas, I want
only the best for my characters.

I'm still getting his backstory mapped out but basically he grew up in the desert with his parents
and adoptive siblings where they made a living off of scavenging and stealing stuff from ruins and
later selling them at a market. However, everything changed when the fire nation attacked-- Okay,
for real, his life went ass over teakettle down the steepest slope you can imagine when he found
a particularly interesting set of ruins. Little did he know though that these ruins were as a tomb.
And a dangerous tomb at that. They were home to the spirit of a powerful sun-priestess that lived
several hundred years ago and she was over-joyed to see Mika fall on his ass and land right in front
of her. You see, she needed someone to help her spread the word of her religion and by doing that
she would offer him a special place in their "heaven". This was all bullshit though, and Mika knew it,
but he very quickly found himself locked in a sort of trance that made him agree to her ridiculous
conditions and was branded with the mark of the Sun Goddess, as they used called her back in the
day. This was pretty darn painful, and you can see traces of how mister smarty-pants here made it
worse; the scars around his eyes. The tattoo he has was, relative to the actual mark, pretty painless.
It was his eyes though; his eyes was the main part of the branding and that, ladies and gentlemen,
hurt like literal hell. So much in fact that he, in a desperate attempt at escaping it, started clawing
at them. This resulted in not only temporary blindness but also the scars. After that he lives with
his family for about a year, before he finds out another unpleasant this the spirit did not inform him
of; he can "burn" souls with his eyes. He had no idea what this did or even how he did it, but it had
severe consequences; he ended up killing his sister, Nuka. This took a heavy blow on him, but the one
that took the heaviest blow was his brother, Alti. Alti literally kicked his ass out of the house and
refused to let him stay there any longer. Though, Mika couldn't just roam the desert blind, and so
they had to love with each other for another 10 months before Mika had regained enough vision
to actually do anything on his own.
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how out angst-ridden big boy ended up with Aiden and Co.
