Description
When I make fan comics, I usually draw about events that are not likely to be fully explained in the actual show.Things that could kind of fit in in the canon.
This time I made something different based on a very persistent headcanon I've had since the beginning of volume 4.
The story behind this comic explained shortly:
Em and Merc are flying over Beacon Tower with their airship.
Suddenly, they see a bright white flash and Ruby leaping towards Cinder who seems to be frozen in time and unable to dodge Ruby's attack.
In a blink of an eye, Cinder is lying in a pool of blood a few meters from where she originally stood.
Em begs Merc to turn the ship around but Merc is like "Yeah hell no she's already dead."
Em jumps off the ship and lands between Cinder and Ruby.
A quick fight happens and Ruby breaks Em's weapons into a million pieces.
Em crawls beside Cinder and protects the fallen maiden with her own body.
Seeing both his comrades in a pinch, Merc has a change of heart. He reluctantly turns the airship around.
Ruby lifts her scythe for one final blow but immediately collapses due to extreme headache.
Merc lands the airship on top of the tower and rushes out to help the two ladies.
I'm well-aware that my headcanon will probably be 100% wrong and this comic ignores the fact that Weiss was nearby, too
but this comic turned out better than I expected and I finally got a chance to draw Crescent Rose <3 Oh... and I guess Ruby is there too. (Just kidding. Rubes is precious and I love her, too. ~)
But goddammit Cinder... You still don't know how to lesbian, do you?
First you wake Emerald up. Then you tell her " I love you too." Then you give her a kiss. Then you let her sleep next to you in bed and then you spoon all night. (No actual spoons involved this time.)
But I guess a simple, honest "thank you" is progress!

It's really heartwarming that Emerald cares about Cinder, and I can so see this happen.
I hope that Cinder would repay that emotional debt in future. I like the facial expressions and moments here!

It really is! She must care for Cinder a lot since she followed her all the way to Grimmland despite being visibly freaked out by everything
about this place. (Merc probably came along just to be the notorious third wheel he's always been. At least if you ask Emerald. xD)
Obviously I wish something like this happened in the actual show but its' almost impossible to draw any conclusions at this point.
Maybe Salem appeared out of nowhere, punched Ruby in the face rendering her unconscious, grabbed Cinder, flew into a giant portal Superman style with Cinder in her arms and Em and Merc just got accidentally sucked in as well. xD

Well... uh... It's like when you go to the store to buy milk and bread
but when you get home, you realize you've forgotten the milk. xD
Milk, in this case, represents Ruby. :'D
Speaking of forgetting things: I completely ignored Weiss' existence in this even though she's my favorite of team RWBY!
She may have still been fighting some grimms and arrived on the top of the tower after Ruby had already passed out.
Or maybe she was the one who had to fight Emerald. I mean, Emmy must've been furious when she found Cinder lying on the ground and Ruby was right there, defenseless... Hmmm... hopefully one of the next few episodes will give us answers.

Dude like seriously? Personally I don't accept any thing as head cannon until official evidence from the show or confirmation from the content creators themselves. Making huge assumptions based off of limited information can be detrimental as it can create discrepancies in ones head between what we think character is like personality wise and what they may genuinely turn out to be later in a series. No one in the fandom really knows a whole lot about Cinder nor do they truly know what the relationship either of her contemporaries has with her. The only facts anyone knows is that Cinder promised Emerald that she would make sure that she would never go hungry because she was an orphan or petty thief. Mercury was the son of an assassin Cinder wanted to hire, but deferred to Mercury himself because Mercury killed his dad. Please don't think badly of me but as of yet those are the only real pieces of factual evidence available to the public. But hey I won't stop you if you want to think otherwise because I am so sick of arguing over ships with other RWBY fans. It really hurts the show as an experience for not only myself but lord knows how many others as well when people get overly obsessed over something like shipping which is beyond the fandoms control.

Hey hey slow down o.o Look, I'm not the kind of fan that gets agressive over ships, it's just that I like this one and I see no problem on assuming headcannons to fill in the gaps until the plot proves me wrong. What harm can it do anyway?? xD Everyone is free to believe whatever theory they want as long as they don't try to shove it in the face of others by force, which I think I'm not doing. So I don't really see where is the problem about me assuming another person's headcannon until official plot says otherwise, which it probably will but who cares, this strip is beautiful anyway xD

Won't argue there. This artist definitely has talent. I honestly stopped liking practically everybody related to Cinder after Vol 3. I always knew she was bad news, but I never in a million years would have guessed she was the type who willing murders anyone to get what she wants. Mercury and Emerald are just as bad for supporting such an insidious cause. I guess in hindsight, they wouldn't be true villains if people didn't have reasons to hate their guts.

Well, you may call me weird but Cinder was and still is my favourite character from the show, in fact she is in my cosplay-to-do list xDDD I saw her as a murderer from the very beginning, if she didn't kill anyone before it was probably because it wasn't scheduled in the plan yet. As for Emerald, considering her reactions once the Grimm invasion started I think she is starting to regret joining the party, so she might not be that bad. I think she was desperate and she just got herself involved in something she didn't completely understand until it was too late to pull back.

Hey I was certain Cinder killed people before too. She still felt like a likeable character to see on screen and had mystery as to why she was strong as well as her intentions. The thing is what Cinder did at Beacon Academy was borderline genocide. Filling the school with Grimm and unleashing that dragon no doubt caused a lot of people to die. While the bit about Emerald having second thought may be true, she is still part of the reason Cinder got her hands on Ambers magic and partly responsible for her death. In my eyes, Emerald is going to need a real change of heart and some serious action to redeem herself as a character to me.

Emerald, Cinder... Normally I'd say that that's pretty lesbian, but would you two just get together already? We had enough headaches with the Arkos, thank you very much, We do not want a repeat of that. Also, we already had our poor bee hearts broken, we don't want our burning gem hearts broken too.

Or at least Cinder does 'cause she's just now realizing that Em has feelings for her.
After all Emerald's failed attempts at getting Cinder to notice her.
I'm sure RWBY will continue breaking our hearts in the near AND distant future.
