I know this is probably not what RoosterTeeth is going for. This is just fanfiction, sort of an alternative outcome of the finale of volume 5. AU. Not a theory!!!

How to get Emerald to work for Salem 101:
Emerald : "I dun wanna."
Salem: *clears throat* "Cinder! Cinder Cinder Cinder Cinder."
Emerald: "I'm listening."
So, this was the first installment for my new series.
DON'T WORRY! The next part of "A Broken Promise" is currently in the works and will be the next thing I'll post here.
Emerald is now the fall maiden and her villain potential is absolutely terrifying.
Her semblance will be greatly amplified by her new magic abilities, but the power won't protect Emerald's mind from her own illusions. The damage will be irreparable.
Salem pushed the "Cinder button" and there's no going back.
Hazel must feel sorry for Emerald. The big guy might be having second thoughts about bringing the girl in Salem's castle.
Mercury is not a happy boi either. He lost his boss and his colleague is tripping balls.
(If the room Em is staying in looks familiar, it's the same room where Cinder was recovering from her wounds after volume 3. )
This comic is a bit different from usual since I decided to go with subtitles instead of speech bubbles. I like how it looks, since I was really able to show all the details in the background without huge white blobs blocking the view.

I...think I am rooting for Emerald here. After watching Volume 4 Cinder I just wanted her to see a more complex side of her in future volumes. Your comics fill that beautifully, now I just want to see her and Emerald win!

Awwww well...The wicked usually don't get their happily ever after but I will try my best to portray these characters as human beings.
They're flawed people for sure but they do have their struggles and feelings, just like our heroes.
Hopefully RT will show us more complex sides of the villains. It makes sense to focus on the good guys first before revealing
all the villain backstories and such. I'm still hoping for more Cinder in that vulnerable state that she showed back in volume 4. *fingers crossed* Or at least proper closure in case she doesn't come back.
So far Emerald is the only antagonist with a strong, believable motive.
She knows Cinder is an awful person and what they're doing is wrong, but her loyalty (and feelings ) for Cinder are stronger than her conscience.
I just wanna hug Emerald. x'd

I had a theory about those four relics, if they do hold the power to bring someone back to life, then is it possible that they could be used to bring pyrrha back to life?

Pyrrha, Roman, Pilot Boi... etc. etc.
We'll see how that goes, since Salem's answer was "Perhaps" not "Yes, absolutely!"

Sorry for interrupting, but; it's possible.
One thing a lot of RWBY fans tend to forget--or just ignore--is that even though Miles and Kerry don't want to bring back someone right now because they know how much backlash it'll bring from some fans, they've neither confirmed nor denied the possibility of resurrection in RWBY.
I would also admit this doesn't mean it's going to happen either; if resurrection could happen in RWBY, there is a chance that there are factors that need to be taken into account (the time of the death, the state of the body, etc.). It's just something we can only speculate for now, since there's so little information. But it certainly is possible, and might even end up being the motivation for some characters--or at least Jaune.

well I hope it does happen, cause I don't want to see jaune suffer anymore, although if they do a resurrection in the series, it'll have to be done in a very, very, very carefully way, or something.

Trust me, so do I. And I'm sure a lot of people want it to happen as well. Heck, maybe that can even be the "victory" at the end; the characters use the Relics to bring back the people they care about, so they can have a second chance at life.
But yes, they do need to be careful, which is why I think they've kept silent right now. Regardless of whether they've made a decision or not, they want to incorporate it into the story in the best way possible.

Well... it would make sense. Assuming that Salem is the "real" villain of the story and she doesn't change or is revealed to have a better side, she'll probably stay as the central antagonist.
Besides, that would probably be where the climax of the story would be; have the characters fight against her for the Choice Relic, maybe even manage to kill her, and then use the Relics to fix things up.

And then she had to witness the happy team RWBY reunion while sobbing in agony. No doubt there's some hatred towards our heroes inside Emerald.

I don't know if she wants to 'wipe out' humanity but I can't see her allowing anyone to exist with power enough to threaten her so I don't see the Maidens surviving nor Watts (because of his scientific knowledge could let him devise weapons against her) and even anyone who is good enough a fighter to challenge her.

I know this most likely will not be canon, and I'm making this story because I like to explore this "What if?"- scenario.
There will be some fights where Emerald gets to create some reaally cool illusions combining her semblance and the maiden powers.
Can't wait to start drawing those.

I would find that scenario very boring, to be honest. Not something I'd wanna draw a comic about.
Ruby already has her "special eyes". I really wouldn't want to see her become a maiden, at least not this early in the story.

I know, I don't think she's dead either. RT has been really vague about the subject, and for off-screen deaths that usually means the character will be back later.
The reason why I'm drawing this comic in the first place is to explore a "What if?"-scenario, not make a volume 6 theory. So this is basically an AU series.
Emerald has lots of potential to be a terrifying villain, and I can't wait to start drawing those moments...

Well, this'll be an interesting new comic. I'm excited to see what happens!
Though I wouldn't necessarily say that this isn't where RT is going; while I doubt this is what will happen (and really hope not) it still could be in the end. We don't really have any real confirmation one way or another.
But anyway, I love the concepts you have here; Emerald's devotion to Cinder is really believable for both your comics and the official release's version. Plus, she actually does ask questions about the relics, which is a plus for me!
I also love how you dealt with Salem; while I think this might be unintentional, or how I might be viewing her, I kind of like the ambiguity about Salem's feelings--did she truly care for Cinder, and care about Emerald, or is she just saying that to push the "Cinder Button" as you said? Sure, we know that she's using Cinder as a means to keep Emerald content, but whether that means Salem is only doing that to keep Emerald loyal or actually does want to help her is a bit more difficult to discern.
Similarly, does she truly not know if the Relics can bring someone back to life, or is that just a lie to get on Emerald's good side. For me, how you portray the villains is not only one of your best strengths in the RWBY comics, but in your works in general.

Awww thank you for your kind words! I'm glad you're enjoying my portrayal of these characters. 
One thing I really like about this project in particular is the inclusion of Mercury and Hazel. Those two will have an important role later on.
The ambiguity about Salem's feelings was indeed intentional. We don't even know if she's capable of feeling emotions anymore.
The conversation between Ozpin and Salem at the beginning of volume 1 kinda hinted that Salem has long forgotten certain things.
Or is it just Ozpin's interpretation? Maybe there is a bit of motherly love left in her heart for these young, desperate girls.
About the relics.... We will eventually find out whether they can bring Cinder back to life or not.
This story will have quite the unusual structure. The next part will be a short recap of volumes 6, 7 and 8 , showing only the most important events.
Then, we jump right at the end of volume 9. "Chapter 10: Labyrinth of Illusions"
I would gladly tell the entire story but I don't have an entire team making this comic, so I'll have to make compromises like this... ^^"
This story will focus on the final confrontation between team RWBY and Emerald, and I can't wait to start drawing all that insanity.

I can see that, and I'll be excited to see it. I think Emerald could have some very good chemistry (albeit maybe not romantic for the sake of this comic) with the two of them, like Mercury showing he always has Emerald's back at the end of the day or Hazel being a father/big brother figure to her.
That's good to hear I got that right. I don't recall Salem saying she's forgotten that kind of stuff in Vol. 1, but maybe I missed that part. In any case, I'd say for now it might be more of Ozpin's interpretation; even if Salem lacks empathy for anyone but herself, I think there have been subtle cases of her showing emotions, be it happiness, disappointment, or anger--to the point where I think Wrath is going to end up being her fatal flaw. Besides, depending on your interpretations of certain events/talks, it is possible that both Salem and the other villains, if not better than Ozpin, have at least more humanity than we're being led to believe.
I was pretty sure we would, both in this story and in the official release. After all, you've got relics of the gods; they must have a lot of power, even if they end up having limitations.
Hmm, interesting... that will be cool to see, though I hope that the Vol. 9 won't be the final battle between the villains and heroes period. Whatever happens to Emerald, I'd like to see what goes on afterward. But, that's just me.
And trust me, I understand you can't tell the whole story; there's only so much any of us can do. Heck, I think we all have had to make compromises for our work.
