Description
This an AU story that ties into my previous comicsΒ and will most likely be very different from future canonical events.

So, a magical maiden sinks into despair, becomes the 'witch of the Emerald forest' and creates a labyrinth...(TotallyNotAMadokaFanGirl)
Oof... RIP birb mom. ;w ; You were one of my favorites. Sadly, she painted a target on her back just by being the spring maiden. But what was her promise to Taiyang about? Well, the talk they had back in volume 6 did not go well but it got Raven thinking about her actions in the past. She was going to change the way her tribe operates. for starters, they would only loot villages that had already been abandoned.
Winter is still alive btw.
Will we ever see Mercury and Hazel again?
Phew! Finally this is done. I had to rewrite the entire first half of the story, which is why part 2 took so long to produce. My original idea was to give you a short "pictures&exposition" type of recap of volumes 6, 7,8 and 9 before the actual comic began. It would've been dull as hecc, so we jump right into action with a few flashbacks here and there.
If you have any questions regarding the kingdoms or fates of specific characters, I'll be more than happy to answer them.
Note that if it's something that will be explained in great detail later in this comic, my answer will be vague.

One aspect I enjoy is the look in Emerald's eyes. They seem to have their pupils, which signifies she is devoid of any Humanity she ahd left. In a way, Emerald died when Cinder did.

Cinder's flashback look also makes an appearance in one panel. Emerald's memories are...all over the place. The illusion of Cinder
changes form like in a dream.

I haven't got enough vocabulary to express how good it is.
So I'll just say I adore this Emerald version from the bottom of my heart. It's that kind of antagonists who you really begin to empathize.

she might've been redeemable at one point makes her downfall really tragic.
Poor Emerald has gone completely mad. Unlike our heroes who have lost friends and family, she just cannot accept
Cinder's death and move on. T__T Cinder was her world.

Well... this took a turn. And I'm surprised you jumped to Vol. 9 so quickly; I thought we would see more of Vol. 6 Emerald first and then move onto this.
But anyway, so far, so good; it a little scary (though Omnicidal Maniacs always scare me). I will be honest that I have mixed feelings about the new Emerald; on one hand, I do think her complete and utter devotion to Cinder is spot-on, and I could see Emerald thinking it would be better to die with Cinder than to live without her. Still... a part of me questions if Cinder was so important that Emerald would become so nihilistic in her death/absence. Plus, a part of me kind of wishes that in this AU at least (canon!RWBY really hasn't said if this would work or not) that a Maiden can't gain the powers of another. It just feels a little... OP for me, and I guess I could believe it if this is all some sort of dream/imagine spot ol' Em is having.
I do like that we get some indication as to how things have changed, or might have changed, for the characters since the timeskipΒ without going into exposition. It's pretty crafty and clever! A part of me is worried that, other than Hazel and Mercury, the villains won't be portrayed at all sympathetically/humanly, which I think is a really strong part of your works, but this is still young; who knows. I'm interested to see where this goes next!
P.S. Funny you should mention Madoka Magica. I remember one guy said that RWBY was going down the "Madoka Magica route" after Vol. 3's finale. Though personally, looking back, I think he was jumping to conclusions too much (even if I feared he was right).
