Description
So!In the last few years I've only drawn like... hundreds of variations of unmasked quarians, and while there have been ideas that have stuck with me for a long time, I've always hated everything I've put together. I always feel like there are a lot of constraints battling.
Recently, however, I found a new direction and I'm actually starting to narrow in on something I'm halfway satisfied with. I'm trying to draw on deep sea fish and certain dinosaurs (brachiosaurs and oviraptoroids) (though my brother says she looks like a boxfish and I think that's pretty apt too).
Anyway, I'd really love to hear any comments on my design so far. My ultimate hope is to do a more complete bust of Tali and Reegar unmasked, but for now I'm still screwing around with a lot of variations.
Thanks!

As much as I like the sort of elvish look they gave the quarians, I was still kinda disappointed that they didn't look truly alien, I allways thought they would look like something along the lines of cybernetic or reptilian.

Very interesting concept; alien-looking, but still somehow pleasant to the eye. I like it.

I always liked the idea that their eyes were glowing, cause that's what it seemed from their helmets. Personally, I think it was a HUGE mistake revealing what Quarians look like. Let their faces be a mystery, I say! Let awesome people like You imagine their designs and give possible ideas as to what they could be and have it be just as relevant as the next guy! But oh no, they had to give descriptions, they have to copy and paste human designs AND COMPLETELY RUIN THE SUBTLE MEANING BEHIND ROMANCING TALI YOU LAZY SONS OF-*takes a deep breath*
phew, ok, I'm calm now, but yeah you get my point.

I really love this design. It's vaguely birdlike, and I can definitely see the fish/dinosaur influence. I agree with the person who commented that this design makes sense given the way their robots are designed, with such long necks, and the Geth legs look similar to Quarian legs, so it stands to reason that the Quarians designed Geth in their own image. I would kill to see a finished color representation of a Quarian using this design. I've always been a fan of more, well, alien looking aliens in any game/show/movie, and this is just so beautiful.

I believe the canon look (humanlike) but it should be a new alien race, or raloi!

Do you even read your codex? In the codex it says Quarians are the aliens, who represent the closests to humans.

I have read it. The quarians were described as roughly human-like in one of the books but for an implied lack of external ears - that is, they were said to have an endoskeleton, lips, teeth, and two eyes with eyelids and tear ducts but "what passes for ears". The in-game codex has no comment on their appearance.
Now, despite that omission, it is clear the creators decided that quarians look like humans. Obviously you can see Tali has a nose in her silhouette in the game. Then there is her crappy Photoshopped portrait in ME3, plus in the extended cut there is a brief shot of a maskless quarian. So yes, there is abundant in-game canonical reason to refute this depiction. But I knew that. I made this in response to that abundant in-game canonical reason, because I think that interpretation is uncreative and lame.
So yes, I read my codex. No, it doesn't say they look like humans. And even if it did, I wouldn't care.

really like this. i always pictured them as being pretty bird-like, because their robots have such long necks and they seem to as well though it's hard to tell. the forehead is a little extreme imo

looks good.
The foreheead is just a tad too bulged out though.
Had the helmet glass been put on poor guy would have friction marks constantly on his forehead.

Needs a nose. Clearly an outline of a nose is on tali.

You would really make a good exobiologist. That really looks like a possible alien being. They are suppossed to have dextro DNA....they have no reason to be humanoid, yet they are, with few noticeable differences, like their legs, hands and feet. Good job remainding me why I choose to hit on Miranda on ME2...no way Im dating this kind of....girl...I should introduce her to a Turian friend of mine...I wonder if interbreeding between Turians and Quarians is even possible, and even a solution for their weak inmune systems....

Wow, this is a first in Unmasked Quarians! I like it! their legs always made me wonder why people think they're humanoid.
This verison is more alien and awesome, though I think they might need a sharper nose because you can see it through the visor.\
But anyways, LOVE IT!!

This fits much more than the usual space elf-thing.
The face is still attractive enough that Shepard don't have to think on a krogan while kissing Tali^^
Seriously this looks really awesome.
You can keep the shape of the forehead but I would suggest, like ~o-WingedPanther-o, that you should make it a bit lighter.
But its your design so you decide what is to do.

I really wish Bioware would go with something more similar to this than to the extremely-humanoid versions out there, we have enough of that with the Asari! I think your version looks beautiful, you should develop it more!

This is... actually pretty interesting - a lot more so than any other "unmasked quarian" I've ever seen. It's in pretty firm keeping with the whole "alien" aspect of things, but not so alien and unfamiliar that it's off-putting.
I, personally, would probably make the forehead a bit less protrusive, but this looks fantastic!
