Description
Coat of arms of the Terran Socialist Union, the entity ruling the entire planet earth. It is based on the original coat of arms of the USSR. It's motto is "Concilium Populus Que Terrarum" (The Council and People of Earth in Latin) since 2034. Before this it was "Workers of the world, unite!", the communist rallycall. It was changed in 2034 to symbolize the succesful ending of the de-nationalization process of Earth.

In this timeline, the world agrees to Woodrow Willson's Fourteen Points and starts a large disarmament programm. While the Western nations start dimantling all weapons and arms in their posession, the Soviet Union under Leo Trotzki (who in this timeline won his struggle for power with Josef Stalin) pursued a secret programm of arms-build-up, while simultaneousliy funding communist underground operations in all European countries and the US.

In 1936, the hour of world revolution had finaly come. The underground oeprators in Europe and America recieved their signals and struck. Those governments that could not be overthrown by internal revolutionaries were crushed by the overwhelming force of the Red Army. Within one year, the whole of Europe, Arabia and Africa had been drawn into the sphere of the Soviet Union. North America soon followed, then SOuth America, Asia and Australia. The only countries that remained independent (and remain thus till this day) are Switzerland and New Zealand.

On April 21st 1946, the Supreme Council of the Soviet Union agreed to transform the nations of the world into the Socialist World Republic, renamed the Terran Socialist Union in 1998.

The Union has gone through several transformations over time. Since it's foundation, the Union pursued a programm of de-nationalization, educating it's youth in the sense of existence without nationality. In 2034, this programm was concluded with an administrative reform, that reorganized the world into districts, that did not follow the lines of ethnicity anymore. Since this reform was taken positivly by the large majority of the population, the de-nationalization effort is therfor considered complete.

Since 2054, the Union is also advancing further into the Solar System, by starting the process of terraforming Mars. The "Red Planet" as it is called is the new prestige project of the Union, which is aiming to make it the first planetary object to be remoddled in the sense of humanity and it's socialist ideology.

Since the World Revolution and the end of the Socialist Dark Ages (as the immediate phase after World Revolution is called due to it's high ammount of political violence) humanity has enjoyed peace in it's self-built socialist utopia.

The Union is a global Council Republic, divided into 851 districts. Each district is governed by a Supreme Council. Members of theses councils are elected directly by it's inhabitants and can be recalled at any given time (imperative mandate). The districts also send envoys to the Supreme Terran Socialist Council, the global governing body seated in Brussles since 2034 (before it's seat was Moscow).
