Version 7 Tutorial here:
Management Tutorial Here:

I was so surprised that there wasn't a full tutorial on Points, especially not found easily. So I took some time and put this together.

Time taken: About 2-3 Hours

I hope this is helpful!

Edit 1: I have gotten some suggestions to add a chunk about the Llama Trade. However until I have some time, to add it I would like to explain it here [removed]

Edit 2: Fixed a typo!

Edit 3: Because of the release of Version 7, (Tutorial for it here at the top of these comments) I will be updating this shortly with changes to accommodate V7.

Edit 4: This version now features information about the llama trade and pictures and information that needed to be changed for V7 are now updated!

Edit 5: Fixed minor typo as well as cut it down to a better size.

OMG!
Thank you so much for the DD!
=Iluvocnj2006 and =dhikssy Thank you so much for suggesting it!

And thank you ^ginkgografix for featuring it and your help!

Thank you everyone and I hope that this will be useful for all!

Thanks for all the support on my 1st DD

I already knew all of that, ...just from it being intuitive? But, I've been trying to get enough points to renew my subscription (or re-get one), so maybe it'll help if I link people to this.

Another thing that can be done with points? Fuhgeddabout them!! Useless and stupid concept of applying another layer to the simple aspect of cash.

Which frankly I'd not give cash nor points to DA so long as they remain both fickle, and try to pass off FAQs as "rules"

However, as for your work... good job. Must have taken more effort and skill than I have of either...

IF you pay someone by dArt points its easier for both your and the receiver. Think a little

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 2

LoveRobin In reply to RocKenny [2010-05-18 23:37:00 +0000 UTC]

Meh... easier not to pay anyone

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

RocKenny In reply to LoveRobin [2010-05-19 00:01:03 +0000 UTC]

Since you probably dont have to pay anyone for anything .. sure. As I had to pay something, I was willing to use it. Really, think a little

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

LoveRobin In reply to RocKenny [2010-05-19 00:24:40 +0000 UTC]

Money is money. You have to shell out cash for the points, you can shell it out to whomever you need to pay.

KISS, Keep It Simple Simple(or Stupid for the 2nd S). Anything extraneous which does the same as something simpler will only serve to clutter things up. The simpler you keep a process, the least it can be mucked up.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

RocKenny In reply to LoveRobin [2010-05-19 00:51:48 +0000 UTC]

... You are completely oblivious to the fact that I already explained why its better for some people right?

Some people just cannot pay it / get paid in natural way.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

LoveRobin In reply to RocKenny [2010-05-19 03:49:44 +0000 UTC]

FIRST off, allow me to re-clarify, the time and effort you put into this is excellent.
------
Nope. Not Oblivious at all. What's the difference in paying someone in points or currency? Especially when points EQUAL and are USED AS currency. USD, euros, Yen, Kugerrands, tokens... points.

Okay, so someone cannot cashout to get the money in their hands. So it remains as a credit on their account which they can then turn around and transfer to someone else's account in another transactional trade of goods or service...

Regardless of what you call it, Points or Money, it WORKS THE SAME.

Points is just a blatant attempt by DA to have their own currency which can then be altered in value anyway they wish anytime they wish.

400p for $5 this month?(notice, not even 1p=1ยข(USD)) Next month we can make it 350p(or less) for $5(or more) while keeping the point system the same which means overnight the purchase power of your banked points has decreased and it will all be at their whim!... where they cannot do that with a $5 credit on the account.

In addition if an account is closed or suspended, unlike money, Points cannot be returned! See, you USED your Legal Tender of the Realm(wherever you live), CASH, to BUY a product, Points. You GOT YOUR PRODUCT, points, so your money is spent... gone... finito.

IN DA's bank...

I am not saying that you are not telling the truth when you speak about that Deviantart can decrease and increase the prising. But just to tell you, I was not able to send money to one dude here via paypal or other way, so we decided to pay it in points. That is my point.

But hey, sorry, its a useless discussion with no ending :-D Have a nice day

wingman11 In reply to RocKenny [2010-05-18 21:06:01 +0000 UTC]

Of course, there is the thing where someone might rather be paid for their prints in cash, and then someone pays for one in points instead. The receiver could be saving up actual money and have no use for the points at all, thereby ripping the receiver off.

RocKenny In reply to wingman11 [2010-05-18 21:58:41 +0000 UTC]

Its all about agreement, and for many people its easier to transfer points (for me also, I wanted to pay PORQ for a tutorial but I am not able to, thx to my weird bank account)

wingman11 In reply to RocKenny [2010-05-18 22:13:59 +0000 UTC]

I agree, it all depends on who is buying and who is selling.

Fantastic tutorial.

There's one thing missing:

Converting s into points.

Other than that, MUCHO kudos to you for taking the time to write this up.

It's absolutely flawless.

Perhaps now people will understand why certain people (read: myself, and a few other deviants.) have a donation pool on their page and how it works and more importantly, why it works.

Awesome job.
