If you want it Stratagy/RPG I advise Fire Emblem for GBA/DS. However, i love the Advance Wars series, though it gets rid of the RPG elements.

War of the Lions is also a good choice...it's too bad we don't have a sequel for it (and it's also a shame it's only for the PSP and not the 3DS)
