Do you have any tips for drawing isometric map assets? I'd love to make stuff references or similar to Final Fantasy tactics, but I'm not very familiar with pixel art yet.

How, if I may ask, did you go about making the elevated platforms in tiled?

Hi Tim, First thing first nice isometric art! May I ask how you render passable object in Tiled so the character can pass behind it? It's easy for orthographic mode but not so in isometric mode XD

Here is a beautiful  isometric art, not that poligonal squares over-textured of that early Playstation games

Thank you! Althou honestly I think playstation-era polygonal squares can be quite charming, althou that might have to do with nostalgia.

Fantastic map.

Do you have some resource how you worked with  isometric map in Tiles program,  some tutorial. I did not find good tutorial for this types of maps in this program..

What tile set you used, something you made or some other.

It's quite simple, just change orientation to Isometric when you create a new map in Tiled. In this sample I have tilesize set to 32x16. I'm using my own tileset on this map. I believe you get a couple of isometric sample sets when you download Tiled, you can experiment with and learn to use.

Thanks for information.  I found later instruction how to do it correctly. Trick was isn tileset size, i was laways seting in same dimension like 32 x  32

looks like it's modeled after the maps in FFTA, my favorite game~! <3 you're very good with pixel work! oh, by the way, what do the terms "isometric" and "non-isometric" mean?

CamiloMM In reply to Forerunner-Tulia [2013-06-29 18:18:19 +0000 UTC]

Isometric means that there is no "perspective" from the camera, that is, all parallel lines will always be parallel, which doesn't happen on an actual camera. Due to the fact that this allows easy tiling of sprites, it was common for old games to be isometric, and nowdays that effect is re-created just for the style.

This is aboslutely great! A beautiful environment with clean and sharp pixelling. I love it!

You know?, I think I'm going to try isometry as well. The illusion of dimension you can achieve is fascinating Of course, I suppose that in order to make this kind of high-quality graphics you've needed a lot of practise, haven't you?
