OK, so just a disclaimer. All of these alien races rightfully belong to , who is a VERY imaginative and talented Xenobiology artist here on dA! He's done a LOT of cool alien races, complete with unearthly anatomy often described in detail, unique mentalities, and a peek into their history and planetary climates and conditions! Yup, this guy puts SO much effort into his ET's!

And while he doesn't seem to be online much anymore, I have been wanting to draw some of his stuff for a long time now! To Transapient, hope ye like it! Or at least think it's OK, cuz my drawing style is a lot less detailed. Also hope I got the color scheme correct. Mostly because his drawings tend to be pencil-drawn.

The Ith - The Iths are a race of large, tetralateral carnivores originally from a metal-rich world called Dath. They are slow moving, and used highly sophisticated long-range communication between each other to set traps for prey and to control and domesticate other, faster moving predators. Iths speak through high frequency microwaves which translate well in the thick atmosphere of Dath. These transmissions are produced and received with a fleshy, bell-like dome at the top of their bodies. An adult Ith can stand six meters tall from bell to toe. The body is covered in metallic shard-like growths which serve as protection and insulation. These shards are also highly sensitive to electrical and magnetic fields. Silicate eyes on stalks randomly dot the main body and are only vaguely sensitive to infrared light. Four pillar-like legs support the body and alternate with four muscular proboscises. The central mouth is beneath the body. Iths are hermaphrodites who can reproduce both by sexual reproduction and parthenogenesis.

Ith society is typically structured around central authority figures that are obeyed with draconian rigidity. The deeply ingrained mindset to control is carried on by most Ith Ultras. Within their sphere of influence, spanning a few galaxy clusters, they are at best intolerant, and at worst hostile towards other sophonts. They value most heavy metals as spices in their food, artistic sculpture, and very strong war machines. Several cultures, including the Thos, have been at total war with different Ith factions for 19 million years now to keep them in line.

The Ny - The ny are an ancient, powerful race with rather lowly origins. They evolved from large, slow-moving scavengers on their home planet. Their planet of origin, Auzar, is a carbon planet near the center of the Whirlpool Galaxy. Auzar is covered in various hydrocarbon thalassogens, primarily gasoline compounds. Nykind is about 10 million years old. They conquered almost half of their home gallaxy by the time of the nexus. There are many species and subspecies of ny, but the baselines will be discussed here.

Ny tower 20 to 25 meters in height. They grow in spurts throughout their lives. The ny originally lived without medication for about 300 years, but modern citizens enjoy a lifespan of 8000 or more. They have naturally good immune systems to suit their scavenging habits. Ny now either farm free-range livestock, eating those who die naturally, or live off genetically engineered sessile meat products. Individual ny have distinct odors, which has significant cultural tributes. Their cephalons are equipped with primitive photo receptors, olfactory glands, radiation sensors, a sack-like brain, and seven tentacles surrounding the rasping mouth. Their heads and necks are drooping with various folds, fat deposits, and wattles. These skin formations are often swarming with parasites, though the ny actually find this soothing and have breed many designer parasites in use today. Ny are sex-changers. They are hermaphroditic with choacls covering their necks in irregular patterns. During sex, adult ny reveal these to be reversible penises/vaginas which they entwine their necks with and switch gender several times during mating, which can last a full Terran day. Their armored upper torsos contain their three hearts, lung, and other respiratory systems. Their lower torso is taken up by their guts. From this torso radiate four large tentacles. Although modern therapy, multilives, ritual suicide or mind-wipes help, they continue their hedonistic ways since it is considered a good time for doing so. This is also why the only thing that truly scares them today is the company of other adults. The Ris Qul My - These floating beings are also native to Hoag’s Object. The ris qul my hail from a Jovian world called Eetheelee, originally from the Dus star system. Their world and its moons have been relocated, replaced, and moved on pilgrimages several times since their discovery by the pal civilization. The pals have made sure to preserve Eetheelee as best they can to protect and support the ris qul my, who don’t seem to mind the movement or activity associated with them. Ris Qul My is a hive mind that converges every 110,000 local years (112,000 Earth years). During this time, they are able to make use of their telepathic psychokinesis to merge into a high-level Ultrasapient entity. This highly impressionable entity is able to modify its world down to the subatomic level and promote the development of the planet’s atmospheric system into self-regulating systems of convection cells and other weather patterns. While the Ultra is active (100 years), it will have profound effects on memes brought to it by other sophonts. It is able to produce living memes in the physical and psychic worlds of sophonts. These can have great influence on civilization if at the right place and time. But it could also lead to plagues of nightmares which can be taken advantage of by groups with hostile intentions. Individual ris qul my are flat, elliptical creatures with intricate internal balance systems and two stabilizing winglets at their sides. Their sensory face contains thermal and sonic receptors. The Megazons - Mezagons are a prolific yet somewhat reclusive race native to Sift Galaxy. Specifically, their race originated from the moon Cuelong, one of sixty orbiting the jovian world Myin. The world of Cuelong is a startling and turbulent place. This moon must have been captured by the gravity of Myin, for it orbits in the opposite direction of the parent planet’s spin. Cuelong is a small world with a weaker magnetic field than Terra. The surface is subjected to high levels of radiation from the star and the jovian. Its proximity to Myin, and its opposite orbit generates much volcanic activity on Cuelong. Several times in prehistory, the eruptions were so violent they caused mass-extinctions. The days have gradually become elongated by the pull of Myin’s superior gravity. There are approximately three weeks of light followed by three weeks of darkness. The volcanoes emit enough gases for Cuelong to retain a thin atmosphere. Much of Cuelong is a vast desert, but there are polar ice caps and a southern sea flanked by immense canyons harboring life.

The mezagons themselves evolved within the sheltered depths of the largest canyon. Melting ice during the day would pour into the great canyon in many large rivers. Much of the lower lands of the canyon are swampy with a great many rivers and streams. The mezagon’s ancestors were wading predators/opportunists. They walk on two telescoping legs. An accordion-like hydraulic muscle system supports their legs. The high levels of radiation have forced life on Cuelong to develop highly protected organ and regenerative systems. Their skeletons are copper-based and their important organs—such as their spiraling lungs and starfish-shaped hearts—are enclosed within protective carapaces. Mezagons are a tall species with long necks containing sensory organs. Specialized nodes—part of the neck vertebrae themselves—detect varying electromagnetic radiation. Obviously, only males have the ability to manipulate tools, or properly communicate. The tentacles are covered in tiny, spinning hairs. These hairs, as well as movements of the tentacles themselves form an intricate sign language. Females communicate through symbolic running and dancing.

Although copper is in great abundance—mostly within the biosphere—of Cuelong, there are very few metals. Although mezagons had been an intelligent species for a few million years, they had progressed much slower. Their stone architectural feats are truly monumental. They have perfected the art of stone-sculpting to enormous depth. Enormous megastructures of stone, aided by the planet’s low gravity, have been carved into the landscape by hundreds of millions of generations. They have also developed plastics, optics, ceramics, and biotech to high degrees as well. They were only slightly less advanced than 20th century Terra by the time of the Singularity.

Mezagons are naturally skittish sophonts. Many populations choose not to interact heavily with other sophonts. They share a flocking intelligence which borders on the edge of a hive society. Entire ethical groups or subspecies are made up of smaller individual groups. The casual human observer may perceive them to be defeatists due to their apparent lack of hope. They always assume things will go wrong, thereby increasing the zeal of success. Running and dancing are all very important aspects to almost all mezagon-derived societies. They are also noteworthy for their unique concept of suicide. The older they become, and the more children they have, they become increasingly aware of their dwindling value to the group. They will volunteer for more and more extreme of hazardous jobs until they may eventually simply go off to find some way to die. Many modern mezagon societies store their elder’s minds in disposable bodies. There is actually a correlation between the older a mezagon becomes and its likelihood of ascending to Ultrasapiency.
