Description
#534: ConkeldurrThe Muscular Pokemon
Fighting
Height: 4-9 feet tall
Weight: 200-650 lbs
Sound: Generally low grunting, accompanied by the scraping and stomping of their concrete pillars. Perhaps even their veins pumping blood when they’re doing something that requires a lot of strength.
Gender: 75% male, 25% female. Females, while rare amongst Conkeldurr, often do not have a beard, and their noses are a bit smaller. However, other differences are too small to be effectively pointed out.
HP: 105
Attack: 140
Defense: 95
Sp. Attack: 55
Sp. Defense: 65
Speed: 45
Total: 505
Effective Moves Against it:
Bug (1/2x), Rock (1/2x), Dark (1/2x)
Psychic (2x), Flying (2x)
Location: They are very rare to find in the wild, but when they are, they’re found nearby the presence of Timburrs, which would mostly be in Pinwheel Forest, or in Cold Storage. They also DON’T have a mating season, because they often look for a mate while they’re still a Gurdurr.
( A ) General: There are very few fighting-type Pokemon in existence that are as astoundingly strong as Conkeldurr. However, despite its similarities to Machamp, in it being a fighting type that can evolve via trading, it’s almost completely different in its mental and physical capacities.
Evolution: As Gurdurrs, evolution occurs when they are either exposed to the energy found in trading machines, or when they simply wait until they’re 40-60 years old. Either way, their upper body becomes massive, gaining extremely hard, sturdy, yet extremely flexible muscles; perfect for being able to carry very heavy objects with force, and with care. When taking a look at their anatomy, something that stands out is their immense circulatory system; their hearts are bigger than an adult human head, and their blood vessels are so enormous, they blatantly stick outside their bodies as giant, purple tubes, and they have a thick padding so that these vessels become very hard to rupture.
This is a good thing, because when necessary, these vessels pump blood at high pressures and high volumes into the rest of their body to give Conkeldurrs a burst of immense strength that few other fighting types are completely incapable of. That is unless they happen to be legendary. One can also note, this burst of strength is entirely voluntary, and can do work that requires careful or delicate hands when they want.
( B ) As Laborers: The reason for their shockingly high strength, along with that of their predecessors’ Timburr and Gurdurr, is because throughout ancient history and modern times, their line was employed for heavy-duty construction work. Towering pyramids, temples, churches, mosques, and many other buildings owe their entire existence to the toil of the Timburr line of Pokemon. While humans do come in to collaborate with them, during the actual construction process, humans are often not needed from being at the site. This is because all three have are credited with having impressive intelligence, which they use for figuring out how they can effectively put together a building while also following plans by architects. They also use this for organizing themselves when constructing.
Timburrs work on small/delicate but vital details, such as hammering nails in, constructing roof tops, operating machines when necessary, placing in windows, and laying out pipes and wiring; Gurdurrs handle tasks such a setting up foundations and cables, wallpaper, floorboards, stairs, and other jobs that usually need a large team of men to do. Conkeldurrs are best at lifting heavy objects, so they’re mostly employed for excavation, hoisting up large foundations, or for bringing in heavy construction materials, or carrying furniture up to the place when it’s almost done. Conkeldurrs come to best use when constructing large buildings, like skyscrapers or apartments. National law dictates they receive a respectable amount of pay at least, in the form of food and living quarters; pretty much all they ask for in return for their services.
Their intelligence makes them vastly different from the Machop line. Machamp in particular is known for it’s ability No Guard because it’s reckless; while it’s attack too is excellent, it’s very bad at thinking in general, and will often times act before it realizes what consequences will occur. However, Conkeldurrs are generally far more rational than they are, and may take longer to do something mostly because they think about how to properly execute an action. One could say they technically use an architect’s or builder’s logic; measure a cut before you cut. It’s their approachable and thoughtful nature that makes them popular amongst the working class; it even reflects in their personalities, since many seem to be calm, level headed and thoughtful. Very few tend to be any worse than slightly curmudgeonly, and even fewer will commit a violent act against another human or Pokemon without a very good reason; they know whoever receives that violent act will sustain much worse injuries than originally intended. Even then, it’ still a good idea to respect them.
( C ) Invention of Concrete: Perhaps what makes Conkeldurrs so well known among Pokemon history is their one enormous contribution to the creation of big cities and roads: the creation of concrete. While it was almost thought to be false, it was at last proved true by the discovery of an ancient concrete mixer, along with a mural of a civilization paving roads onto its cities for the very first time--and detailing how they did it.
As agreed by many historians, the creation of concrete traces back to the roots of ancient Gurdurr. As they and their descendants evolved into Conkeldurr, their upper bodies gradually became bigger to support the large loads they were employed to carry. However, this enlargement came to a point where even today, it’s very hard for their legs to support their bodies for long periods of time. In early years as Conkeldurrs, they can walk and run effectively on all fours, but later in life, they’re nearly unable to get up properly without support.
To fix this problem, Conkeldurrs figured out, they needed support of some kind. They tried many kinds of substances that eventually failed. Wood was nigh useless, since it’s far too brittle and easy for it to break. Steel was too easy to bend and was too light. Stone was brittle and easy to crumble into mere pebbles if they don’t handle it as lightly as possible. However, the closest thing that came to be a success was made of crushed limestone, so they knew it had to be reinforced for it to work fully. People became involved, and although humans found out some key points to its composition, Conkeldurrs discovered, and taught people, just the effective way to put it together. Using an archaic concrete mixer and a mold, the first true concrete products from more than 2,000 years ago came to be the canes that held them up, along with most of human civilization.
( D ) Battle Technique: Their technique in battle is unique, because they mainly rely on their pillars as weapons. They do this in several ways: they can use their pillars as shields to take super-effective damage for them. They can spin them rapidly and keep them balanced on the center to hit a foe several times. They can even smash the opponent directly with them, pulverizing them with a devastating force. Attacks using their fists are equally as painful if not more so, and their ability Guts, which increases their attack stat even higher than it is if afflicted with a status ailment, can make the sheer power of their attacks utterly ridiculous. Also, they can use their pillars for some Rock-Type attacks, by either razing the ground with them and using the debris as rocks, or even breaking apart their pillars and using that to attack. In this way, the only things that truly have a chance of standing up to them are Psychic-Type pokemon.
Trainer Tips:
- Conkeldurr likely do not have a ready access to concrete right after evolution. And, before learning to walk on all fours, they will have a very difficult time moving. So, preferably give them either a wheelchair or a heavy, long object they can balance themselves with. DO NOT have them lean on your back, because your spine will snap like a twig before you could tell the weight is too much to take.
- If they find a situation where they want to help people with heavy duty work, let them have the pleasure of doing so. BUT NEVER HELP OUT. They know this is not out of personal dislike for work, but rather because it’s safer that way, because heavy-duty work often involves lightly tossing around items that will break several human bones in the best case scenarios.
- Conkeldurrs are very intelligent creatures. If they advise you or other Pokemon against certain actions, LISTEN TO THEM. Being oriented towards architecture, their minds are good at calculating outcomes, and can quickly let you know if a choice you make is a bad idea.
- RESPECT THEM. Even though they’re generally placid because they prefer to not hurt other creatures outside of battle, it’s still a horrible idea to make them incensed. And note, it takes a lot to anger these creatures, being more level headed than most other Pokemon. The least damaging thing they can do is stop working for you entirely, and that will be detrimental to development if you have a big project going on.
Personal Witnesses:
Conkeldurrs are almost nowhere to be found in the wild, but are abundant in cities, especially those which have buildings still being constructed.
In a certain lot constructing a new shopping mall, I see them and the rest of their line every day. While trucks are mostly used to carry specific tools, Conkeldurrs carry the content outside and into the area where it’s needed. Even when not diligant, they’re very good at supervising and helping out when needed. Despite this, some people would look at it and think there’s nothing interesting to say about it since it’s such a “mundane” thing to see.
Far from mundane is an amazing incident that one of my friend’s uncles saw, in Black City when he was younger. Something was going horribly wrong: Raticates chewed through the bottom foundations of a sky scraper being built, and it was starting to fall! People feared it would crush a large portion of the city and its residents if it did so. But then a Conkeldurr that worked on it saved the day! It used it’s Herculean strength and a lot of strong cables to literally hold it up and stop it from falling any further, until a myriad of helicopters and Dragon Pokemon came to stabilize it. I couldn’t believe at first that a lone being would ever be capable of supporting hundreds of thousands of tons by itself, until I actually saw a picture of it! My jaw fell to the floor in pure shock looking at the old, grainy photo. If Machamp could move mountains, I can bet Conkeldurr isn’t very far behind if it can keep a skyscraper lifted.

A local bank had to be torn down and rebuilt from the ground up in the town I grew up in thanks to a bunch of issues, and they employed Conkeldurr and ONLY Conkeldurr to do it. The foreman in charge told them that literally any human being inside the fence before a certain date was to be sent to the police station at once.
Well, someone did try to sneak in to tamper with the security system, and the Conkeldurr who caught him did exactly as he was told...by THROWING the offender in the direction of the police station. His aim was just a bit off and he had to pay for the squad car that the criminal landed on, no charges were filed against anyone, and the bank was rebuilt without further incident.
There are quite a few people who claim with horror that this is now what that particular company intentionally teaches their Conkledurr. I say if it isn't true, it should be.

I personally hate Conkeldurr...because they're disgusting in apperance...but I won't fall for it!
There are Pokemons that are or rather WERE so much related to humans, and now at modern times everyone is hiding it and feels embarassed when there's mention
about this and especially when saying we're related to some species, thanks Arceous professor Rowan is spreading some word and now, your report...!
I love you for that.

Thank you so much!
Even though yeah...in comparison to other humanoid Pokemon, Conkeldurr REALLY stick out.
Others in its family have a bit more subtle anatomy, like say..
- The Hitmonfamily.
- The Machop family.
- Sawk and Throh.
- The Meditite family.
Subtle in terms that their anatomy is lightly built but strong. Whereas Conkeldurr is like Wreck-it Ralph, there is NOTHING to hide the fact that it's a humongously strong Pokemon! Also taking into account all the ridiculously huge purple blood vessels bulging out of its body.
