In the meanwhile, Poppy Hedgehog was a kind of thing from a canceled Sonic Game known as "Sister Sonic", an RPG which is basically a reskinned version of a game called "Popful Mail." Hence she's named Poppy. Although I am NOT gonna make her an expy of the main character of that game, c'mooon!)

OK, so here's something new and exciting!!

The funny thing is, I never really found myself getting entirely into the Sonic Underground kind of rhythm. I mean I've seen a few of the episodes to dig up a bit of lore, because you prolly know by now that the Eccentrix-Verse is a whole MISHMASH of different aspects of the Sonic Fandom. Y'know, take 'em all, put 'em in a blenderiffic mix, and rearrange some of the chronology so that these things add up. BUT ANYWAY, quite a bit of history behind these guys! Especially since Status Quo is NOT God, and they've already undergone quite a bit of development before the present day. Like say.....

Lady Aleena used to be a member of the Royal Court in the Kingdom of Acorn, living in lavish luxury alongside King Maximillian Acorn himself. She was married to Jules Hedgehog, a powerful and renowned soldier of the Royal Army who was also the brother of Sir Charles the Hedgehog, a brilliant inventor and in close service to the King. Needless to say, she was REALLY high up on the Social Pyramid.

However, it was around the birth of her four children (HEDGEHOGS TEND TO HAVE LITTERS) that hard times began to fall...namely, after Charles invented the Roboticizer as a method of allowing the sick, elderly and injured to live longer....and then Warlord Julian Kintobor sabotaged the machine, and turned the mortally wounded Jules into a robot proper, with absolutely no free will left. And then things really went down the dumper when Julian rose up and took over Mobotropolis, using his tech to transform it into Robotropolis, and sent Aleena and Charles into hiding with their children.

Since the Royal Court was under immediate threat of Roboticization so there will be no threat or equal to Robotnik's power, Lady Aleena had to completely change her identity to become "Bernadette Hedgehog", making herself over so that no one will suspect her identity. As did Charles, simply becoming "Chuck". Later on, an old friend of King Acorn's, the Oracle of Delphius, later on told Bernie!Aleena of a future prophecy, where one of her children will be the one to overthrow Robotnik. To do that, her children must not be anywhere near her, because Robotnik's forces will eventually catch up to her.

So she tearfully bid her four unnamed babies to the care of other parents who could take care of them. Except for Anita, who was born a whole DECADE after these events, here's some info about the siblings.

Manic Hedgehog - Hidden by a doorstop in a relatively poor neighborhood to distance him from his siblings, he was instead stolen away by a member of the criminal underworld. Later taken in by one of their ringleaders, Ferrell. A Mobian Cockroach who raised him to be a masterful thief and pickpocket, made even better by his strange aptitude for geokinetic abilities. I.e. using his drumsticks as a medium for creating seismic activity, sinking into the ground to help him get away with stealing something, essentially using it as medium of stealth. However, one thing Ferrell taught him above all else is to never look down on those less fortunate, and to still keep a set of standards that still allow them to be good, well-adjusted people, despite how much they rob the rich.

Sonia Hedgehog- She was pretty much opposite of Manic, being raised by an aristocrat named Lady Windermere, who raised her in a posh, luxurious environment. And thusly, Sonia herself became pretty snobby and spoiled little girl. But nonetheless, highly energetic and athletic, much to Windermere's surprise. Her main power is super strength, which she tends to use well with her above average strength. Although if Lady Windermere has taught her anything, it's that people mustn't raise themselves above those who are truly suffering. Because she attempted to use her money to help out those living in poor districts rather than paying tribute to Dr Robotnik, she finally got roboticized for that AND for raising Lady Aleena's daughter.

Hip Hedgehog - This was meant to be a one-shot character in the original cartoon, but here he plays a bigger role! He was actually a surveillance AI built by Dr. Robotnik to be snuck into the Freedom Fighter's Nurseries, as his intention was to destroy any possibility of Future Freedom Fighters. Essentially an instigator to mass infanticide. Except this failed when the Sonic Siblings took him in thinking he was just a regular baby, and Manic in particular took a liking to him seeing how similar their hobbies were! In fact....Manic honestly felt attached to the little baby bot, and this kicked off his development into a more responsible and proactively protective person who'd go through that to keep him safe. By the time Hip got destroyed, Manic kept the baby's remains seeing his AI Chip was undamaged, and the moment he they got to the Freedom Fighter HQ, Hip asked Tails to please fix him. Now, Hip is blind in one eye, he entirely lost the use of his vocal box, and his surveillance systems got destroyed. Otherwise, the Freedom Fighters were just fine with him once they realized he wasn't a threat.

(NOTE: In this verse.....Sonia and Manic only got to stay in the Knothole Freedom Fighter HQ for a few days. Because they were roboticized later on after a botched mission, when things got even WORSE than before! What's worse is that Lady Aleena and Chuck were already roboticized at this point, which pretty much drove Sonic to fight Robotnik to get his family back. Before they got de-roboticized some time later by the Bem, leading them to becoming Elites in the Freedom Fighter Forces.

Now that you think about it, he was so attached to the Knothole Freedom Fighters for so long because he lost literally ALL of his family at that point. Except for one....)

Poppy Hedgehog - She was entirely exempt from the prophecy because, as the "Long Lost Sister" of Sonic, she had no ties to him or any of her other blood-siblings. Instead, being left out in the neighborhood for someone to adopt, but the person who found her instead was....Norbert. This was before he met ANY of the Founding Five, and because he didn't trust the Robotnik-managed nurseries at all, he decided to raise her instead. She was pretty much his only friend for years, as he spent most of his time roaming around alone due to his trying to adjust living in the modern world after a thousand years of being frozen in ice. All before he met Hawk for the first time, and begun setting up business as a five-man band known as The Eccentrix. In the meanwhile, Poppy simply went her own direction to adventure pretty much anywhere. Since Norbert had taught her a lot about living in the wild lands, she usually goes on her adventures solo, simply travelling on foot and fighting the bad guys who come in. She'd met Sonic only once from that point, but never had suspected that she was his sister.

Despite the fact that she enjoys solo travels, taking down monsters and robots, saving neighborhoods, she still frequently comes back to visit Norbert. Until recent years, where she only marginally recognizes herself as Sonic's sister, mostly identifying herself as NORBERT'S daughter. And for that matter, coming back once he started setting up the Eccentri-City to become one of his Elite Champions. Needless to say, that's where things would get exciting again.
