Taken at Wolf Park - Battle Ground, IN

Hearing a wolf howl is a very unique and awe-inspiring thing--listening to the pitch of their voices rise and fall in a gentle chorus with one another as they speak to one another in a language we can only appreciate. When the wolves across the lake began to howl and the wind carried it to us, the main pack began to respond in kind, moving forward to the banks as us humans watched and listened. And then we began to join in as is encouraged by Wolf Park staff. Some of the photographers merely watched and didn\'t howl, some watched and howled, others like me watched, photographed and howled along with them to share a very small bond of wolfship with them that day.

This is Wotan (background) and Wolfgang howling together in unison, completely engaged with the act of communicating with their brethren across the lake. I had to crop in close with this one because one of the staff was in the background watching as well, but these definitely need to be close-cropped to really enjoy the moment.
