Description
Just as a warning, this is a HUGE image, 3K x 3K pixels.
UPDATE: 1-24-23, I named all the Rito Settlements.
Hyrule Side: Torikirika (Toe-re-key-re-ka) [Rito Village], Gorika (Go-re-ka) Village, Kariki (Ka-re-key) Village, Koraki (Ko-ra-key) Village
Western Villages: Takandi (Ta-kan-de) Village, Tokali (Toe-ka-lee) Village, Kiriski (Key-re-ski) Village, Tikri (Tick-re) Village, Miski (Me-ski) Village
Far Western Villages: Gotiri (Go-tea-re) Village, Suskiri (Sus-key-re) Village
UPDATE: 8-10-23, I added a new Gerudo Settlement, we'll just call it Gerudo Bay for now. It's on the very edge of the desert so in BotW you'd probably hit sandstorms/"you can go no further" before you could get to where I put it. Also, yes I know TotK blew this up cause there's no room for Xilipi cause the desert just ends at the ocean. I'm ignoring that...
So here's a map of the areas around Hyrule in my fanfic, "The Realm Walker." I started by tracing the edges of two screenshots of the map in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. Tanagar Canyon (which I forgot to label...) is included for reference as is a very rough outline of the Gerudo Highlands. Originally, I wasn't going to include them, but needed them for reference to place the edges of the Ikana Range.
If you look closely, you can see a green line at the edge of Hyrule, that's where the screen ends in BotW/AoC. The Gerudo Desert's western borders are pure speculation as it's nearly impossible in game to see what's going on there. However, at the north end of the map, you can get a pretty okay view of what's going on to Hyrule's northeast from the top of the labyrinth island. You can tell that there's a couple islands there and the rocky pillars that separate the bottomless pit from the ocean curves towards the tall mountains on the edge of the map.
Now as for the lands themselves...
Directly north of Hyrule is the land of Holoryna. This is basically the cross of Holodrum and Labrynna from the Oracle games. Got a lot of work to do with them... The Royal Family's color is bright red and the nation is inhabited by Gorons, Zora, Tokay, Mogmas, and some kinda humans...
To the west of Hyrule is Xilipi (Sy-lie-pie). Closer to Hyrule, Xilipi is dominated by savanna, while most of the coastline is rainforest or estuaries and other wetlands. The coastal side of the Ikana range is mountainous rainforest. Xilipi is home to Ikanans, Likira (Lie-ky-ra), and the Xhona (Sho-na) Tribe. Likira are lizard people, pretty much the classic depiction of Lizalfos, in fact, the Lizalfos that have plagued Hyrule for ages were Likira who were corrupted by Demise/Ganon. The Xhona Tribe are humans with round ears and purple irises (like Lana from Hyrule Warriors) and varying skin tone from light to dark. Since the Zonai have Mesoamerican influences and Xilipi is inspired by Mesoamerican cultures and African cultures, for the purposes of "The Realm Walker" the the Zonai may very well have heavily influenced Xilipi but I don't want to use them really cause of the looming release of Tears of the Kingdom...
So long story short, Ikanans will take inspiration from the Inca while the Likira will have more of a Mayan influence (with some Aztec thrown in). So the more African infunces will be found amongst the Xhona. (And yes, Ikana is taken from Majora's Mask, the King's name gave me Spanish vibes and some of the architecture/outfits look maybe Mesoamerican so all that's getting thrown in) (Also apparently, the Rito have Incan influences (I think they said that in the Making of a Champion book, plus the rugs and stuff seem to be infuenced by Incan or other Mezoamerican designs).
The Bahreyo (Bah-reoh) Alliance lies to the northwest of Hyrule and is comprised of five allied kingdoms. These kingdoms are: Kajke (Ka-ji-key), Boegukai (Bo-goo-kai), Yosikun (Yo-see-kun), Gorai (Go-ray), and Shilian (She-lee-ah). The Alliance Capital is located within the Shilian city of Kyrion (Key-re-own). A hundred years ago, the Bahreyo Alliance was a single, united kingdom known as Yosun. In a great tragedy, the capital of Boekai was attacked by a bird demon known only as Eudon Jeaku (Oh-dune Ja-ku) or the "Dark Phoenix." After the capital was left in ruins, it opened the way for the oppressed peoples of Yosun to rebel and after nearly a century of strife the modern kingdoms have reached a state of peace, if only to deal with random attacks by another demon.
The Bahreyo Alliance is heavily influenced by China and Korea and is inhabited by the Qoru (Ko-roo) Tribe of round eared humans, Sheikah, Hylians, Wizal (basically Wind Waker's version of the Wizzrobe enemy, or Toucan Rito if you'd like), and maybe some others...
Now, if you look between the Alliance and Hyrule you may notice a lot of Rito camps and settlements... After the Great Calamity, most of the Rito fled Hyrule, in a combination of escaping monsters and Guardians and anger over Revali's death. The camps are not permanent settlements, usually a family will watch the camp for a set period of time and be rotated out. These are for processing resources such as foodstuffs and whatnot before being sent back to a village, and rest stations for hunters, warriors, and traveling merchants and such. You may notice some of these camps are inside the Great Scar Canyon, aka the bottomless pit at the edge of BotW's map... These are built in treetops of the forest down there and are the main source of wood for the Rito beyond Hyrule since The Wildlands is pretty much endless grasslands. The Rito villages built along the walls of the Great Scar Canyon operate in pairs, with couriers traveling back and forth across the canyon so the Rito can stay in touch with one another. The winds that blow you back towards Hyrule in BotW are seasonal in "The Realm Walker," Spring/Summer they blow towards Hyrule, and Fall/Winter they blow towards the other side. This makes travel between villages fairly difficult.
Kass' Hut on Washa's Bluff was once the site of a Rito settlement, Suskri Village. Kass is not originally from "Rito Village," or Torikirika (Toe-re-key-re-ka), but from Takandi Village (which is basically directly west of Dragon Bone Mire). Some of the other Rito from BotW may not be originally from Torikirika either/their parents moved out or something and that's why we don't see them, still figuring that out... The "Temples" you see are part of a sidequest idea, the "Water Temple" is at the bottom of Lake Hylia on the east side of the bridge. There's more of these "Temples" but I'm not sure where they'll be just yet or there were no clear references in the map I used to bother placing icons. For example, the "Spirit Temple" is under the desert of the Arbiter's Grounds.
Oh, and there's another kingdom in "The Realm Walker" that's not shown on this map, but it's a secret to everybody... I will likely update this image with anything I add or any cleaning up of the geography rather than posting updates as separate images as this thing is pretty big and I'd rather not post a bunch of huge images... Oh, you may also notice my new watermark, I guess three is enough...
