Description
While working on the BEN 10: Secret of the Omnitrix DVD, one of the folk I was developing was the pilot Gluto. Gluto was my favorite character in SotO partially because of his design. Nice Job!
I think it's pretty obvious where the designer for Goop got his inspiration from.

they're all pretty damn original.
While the final one may not be the "coolest" it sure is unique as hell.

when designing aliens, do you know what you need, than just jot down random ideas that might work

It all depends on the job. On Ben 10, for major players they might have said... "We need a gross out alien who eats things and spits out bombs, and we shall name him Upchuck.... GO!" And from there I figure out design options. Other times they might say..."... we need to populate a prison full of aliens in deep space...GO!" And in that situation it is a design free for all.

ok, but, for example, when creating Upchuck, did you no that he needs to be groos, eat things, and spit bombs, than just create random things based off that, or put alot of thought into it before drawing each one

In all truth, try to put a lot of thought into each design. When creating folks like Upchuck, I am given certain general parameters, then the rest is up to me. That being the case I try to think about different factors that will support the aspects the writers wish to convey. In the Upchuck development process( [link] ) I tried to extol different aspects that would support his power set while trying to provide a wide choice of options in appearance. It is always important to be sure that what ever you come up with does not conflict with the essence of the characters nature (ie you don]'t wish to create a water guy with fire powers...).

I like all of them. They all have their own cool, distinct personalities. Gluto is still my favorite, though; you can't top that.

All of them are amazing characters, it's a shame they only wanted one lol. When you got the go to work on him how much info were you given on just what they wanted?

I was, on the Original show for 3 seasons.

Well the original aliens were a whole hell of a lot better than the alien force series. I still watch now and then but I don't catch every episode cause quite frankly alien force lost me as a fan.
As for Gluto there, I am a big fan of the final version. That snot blob you came up with is a cool character.
