Description
I like to think that the answers to life's most provocative questions can lie inside. Sometimes they're inside the body, sometimes they're inside the mind, and sometimes they're inside both at the same time. On that note, I want to share my answer to one of the most provocative questions to pass through my mind: "What do the skeletons of the trains in Thomas the Tank Engine look like?"There's a bit of an odd story behind how this concept came to be. It spawned from a conversation with my older brother where I joked about the possibility that Blitztank from Blazblue Cross Tag Battle* was a Thomas the Tank Engine character whose face flesh had decayed, leaving the skull behind (If you're confused, here's what Blitztank looks like: www.andersonkenya1.net/uploads… ). His response was that, while he could see where I was coming from, Blitztank's skull was too round to match up. He argued that a Thomas the Tank Engine skull would be shaped more like a flat disk, like a coin. After that, I wanted to try and put down a visual depiction of what the skull of a Thomas the Tank Engine train would actually look like.
This is the very cursed result of this query. Now, I know what you're asking: "Hey, Toaster buddy, how on Sodor are those bones connected together? There's way too much space between them!" This is partially because I've never tried drawing a scientifically plausible skeleton before and did no proper studies of one before hand, but I also like to think that the bones are secured in place during the train manufacturing process. The trains are all made of rigid metal components, so it makes sense that these bones would serve as the scaffolding that helps keep parts in place.
Trust me, I'm studying to be a mechanical engineer. This is the most logical explanation.
Anyways, feel free to share your own thoughts on this concept! Hopefully I haven't scarred you permanently.
Stroodles!
