Description
Project GenesisMy second entry for =theluminarium 's latest exhibition called "Genesis". Project Genesis is inspired by an old Star Trek movie. The project turns dead and lifeless planets into green earth-like habitats. The population of the main-planet decided to colonize the two neighboring moons and startet a Genesis missile for each. In the process of transformation, everything gets killed. The evacuation is in full progress...

The image represents the described state of evacuation very well which is (as I suppose) shown in the amount of chaotically fleeing space ships. Among many pointless space scenes your pic has a theme, which is great, but the approach is quite common: a landscape render, one of your photos in the foreground and a giant planet with a moon in the background. But I do like the design of the biggest space ship which is fairly fresh and very cool to look at. All in all I give 4 stars for vision and 3 for originality.
Technically your work is almost impeccable, it appears. The mix of complementary colors of blue and orange is nice and still not overused. The craters are awesome as well as the shape ship and their trails. The photo blends nicely, but could possibly use a bit blur for the painted look and smoothness to match the rest of the piece.
The only thing that bothers me a bit talking about the technical qualities of this image is the composition along with the length of the trails and their direction. In my opinion the trails are too long and at the same time somewhat chaotic. Especially the ship on the very far left is leading the viewer's eye out of the frame, which is not great for the composition. Additionally the scene has quite a lot of focal points which is a bit confusing, too. Nonetheless the technique is well worth 4 stars imo.
So what can I say about the impact. I love this image overall and as you can see this comment was quite a praise rather than a critique. Good job and keep it up! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/t/t⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="

Thanks man I see the points you've mentioned and you're right. To some extend it was supposed to look chaotic. But the overall composition could be a bit better.
Thanks for your critique

I simply love the fact that your piece is labeled Project Genesis, and yet the actual event is in the background and not made the central focalpoint of the piece. Fantastic!

I always loved the idea of manipulating planets to transform them into evolution brews!
