Description
Most people have done a 3 x 3 chart, but I gave a 5 x 5 chart a whirl. Here's my reasons for each character:

Lawful Good: Knuckles the Echidna. Knuckles is quite dedicated to his job in protecting Angel Island and the Master Emerald, and he will remain loyal to his friends too.

Social Good: Cream the Rabbit. Being so young and innocent, Cream hasn't been exposed to much of the world. However, she is usually the first one other mobains turn to when they need a comforting hug.

Neutral Good: Amy Rose. She wouldn't turn evil per say, but... be careful what you say to her about her and Sonic not being together.

Rebel Good: Sonic the Hedgehog. He's a hero, yes, and he isn't afraid to bend the rules a bit when someone needs saving.

Chaotic Good: Charmy Bee. Due to his young age, Charmy can sometimes go overboard when on a mission. But he has a good heart.

Lawful Moral: Tikal the Echidna. She does pretty much anything to protect Chaos and the Chao, yet sticks very closely to the rules.

Social Moral: Miles "Tails" Prower. Tails nearly always keeps to the rulebook, but is a very gentle soul and will give you a pep-talk to bring you back up when you're down.

Neutral Moral: Silver the Hedgehog. When we first meet Silver, he isn't above trying to kill Sonic to save his future. Granted, he's better now, but he's still naive.

Rebel Moral: Marine the Raccoon. She's always one to talk back in an argument and isn't afraid to go against others' wishes. However, she deeply cares for her friends and will rush to their side if someone needs help.

Chaotic Moral: Espio the Chameleon. Out of the Chaotix, Espio appears to have the most moral value [as well as being the calmest of the trio], but he did threaten to kill Eggman in Heroes.

Lawful Neutral: Blaze the Cat. Dedicated to protecting the Sol Emeralds, Blaze isn't afraid to fight others if she has to. But she does have a strong sense of justice.

Social Neutral: Rouge the Bat. It may be a bit of a stretch, but, Rouge has a habit of manipulating others sometimes. However, when someone is really upset and/or vulnerable (particularly her teammates), she will stand up for them.

True Neutral: Shadow the Hedgehog. This is one I think we can all safely agree on. Shadow pretty much does what he wants to do and sometimes doesn't consider the consequences for his actions. But, when someone close to him is in danger, he will step in to help out, even if it is just briefly, and not that he will openly admit it.

Rebel Neutral: E-123-Omega. Another easy choice on my part. Omega rebelled against Eggman for locking him up in a safe, and wants renege on him. As quoted by TV tropes, Omega pretty much goes where Shadow and Rouge point him to go.

Chaotix Neutral: Vector the Crocodile. He and his team 'never turns down work that pays'. However, Vector is willing to do work for free sometimes under the right circumstances, like help find a lost child.

Lawful Impure: Shade the Echinda. She worked for the Nocturnus clan for quite some time and antagonised the heroes during Chronicles. However, since her reformation, Shade has a more stable personality.

Social Impure: Emerl the Gizoid. Emerl started out friendly enough, but sadly, his lust for battling others started to take over and that's what ended him.

Neutral Impure: Storm the Albatross. Storm follows Jet around a lot, and tends to be quite loyal to him. He doesn't have as strong a bond with Wave, but stands by her no less.

Rebel Impure: Wave the Swallow. During the first encounter with Team Sonic, Wave placed a bomb under Sonic's board, which shows me she isn't one to follow the rules that much, despite telling Jet he should take more responsibility as leader.

Chaotic Impure: Jet the Hawk. Jet's rivalry with Sonic is [currently] one of the more intense rivalries the blue hedgehog has had, and is one of few that can tick him off fairly easily. Jet is also pretty bent on beating Sonic everytime they race on their boards.

Lawful Evil: Black Doom. Throughout the time of Shadow the Hedgehog, while he was manipulating the title character, he doesn't exactly lie to him either. He even revealed the truth about Shadow's part alien origins.

Social Evil: Dr. Eggman Nega. While he does act polite at times on the surface, Nega's not someone you should mess around with.

Neutral Evil: Dr. Ivo Julian 'Eggman' Robotnik. This can vary from continuity to continuity, but I think he's this most of the way. He did actually team up with Sonic and friends on rare occasions like during the Black Arms invasion and the Space Time Rift thing.

Rebel Evil: Metal Sonic. Well, he's turned against Eggman and is bent on destroying Sonic, so, I guess it fits.

Chaotic Evil: Mephiles. Playing everyone like a game of chess for fun and laughing like a maniac? Yes, I'd say that fits.
