Description
"In 1934, the Railway was desperate for money. The board of directors decided that Lily and the older engines were worth more as scrap. The fat director wasn't too happy about it, but there wasn't much he could do. But he did save Neil. I think Lily was sent to the scrapyards on Edward's line, the one where he found Trevor. At least, that's where the others went." Thomas, Little Western Legacy."Only two of us made it... halfway across the English Channel, we were spotted by a U-Boat. Big Mac peeled off and distracted it, while Hercules and I continued on. That's the last we heard of Big Mac.... He could have been sunk or he could have escaped. I just haven't heard more about him." Ten Cents, Dime For Trouble.
Taking place during WW2 when Ten Cents arrived with Operation Minnow, the tugboat tells his story to Thomas about how he had lost Big Mac when he held off an enemy U-Boat, while he and Hercules carried on. Thomas also tells Ten Cents about how he lost Lily due to her being 'scrapped' (IE, lost at sea, though he doesn't realise this).
We don't know what happened to Big Mac, but in a conversation I had with on YT, he said he didn't seal Big Mac's fate yet.

Yeah. Though Lily is rescued eventually, Big Mac's fate is still uncertain.

Speaking of Lily, I wonder how her first meeting with Duck will go down. I mean, Thomas did speak fondly of Lily to him, and he also saw Lily back in service unexpectedly while at the coal hopper one day.

And here's another thing: Lily referred to Geoff by his full name of Geoffery. I wonder if that means she's going to call Duck by his real name.

It's going to be very different, considering the last few times Duck got called by his full name was Diesel saying it in an 'I mean business' manner.
