I don't want to be discoured from sharing my hard work because of a few individuals with thieving tendencies, don't ruin this for me. Thanks.

Edit III Dear mother of God, over 1000 faves, thankyou deviantArt!! I think there'll be a part 2 coming soon to this tutorial that was never meant to be a part 1...

Edit II Wow over 600 faves! Thankyou so much I rarely get over 10 faves on my work, I guess deviantArt loves Tutorials.

Edit Loads of people have been really lovely about this tutorial, I'd love to thank everyone individually but that wouldn't be possible so... Thanks for all the support.
If you use the tutorial send me a link and I'll give you any more advice I think you might need.

I'd just like to say this is a beginner's tutorial and this is the method for colouring I used, which served me in good stead whilst I learnt about digital painting, there are other, much better tutorials on deviantArt which can show you more advanced methods of painting.

I made this for myself, so that I had some skin swatches to hand. Then I got ahead of myself and well... here it is.
I'm happy to answer questions.

I don't... but these colours and techniques will work in any program.

If you want to use a smudge tool method try thisΒ igneous-dragon.deviantart.com/…

But if you're interested in a more advance technique, the one I use myself, then look hereΒ shesta713.deviantart.com/art/S… (just ignore step 4)

Sadly Β i cant use the smudge tool , my computer is too slow and it takes too much time , do you have any other tips for me if im not able to use it ? really helpful tutorial though Β

TobyFoxArt In reply to Huaanitaa [2013-08-15 11:07:03 +0000 UTC]

Lay down the base colour first, then paint on the stripes at 100% opacity, then paint inbetween the two with 50% opacity of the lighter colour. I'd love to see the results when you're finished.

Sounds good , I will try it out and see if it works for me , I got really sick of my digital art so i will probably go back to my old trusted pencils , but thanks so much for help

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TobyFoxArt In reply to Huaanitaa [2013-08-15 19:43:19 +0000 UTC]

If you want to get better it's just practice, practice, practice. My traditional pencil art has only gotten better along side my digital, so it doesn't really matter too much which you use.

Huaanitaa In reply to TobyFoxArt [2013-08-15 19:53:07 +0000 UTC]

I feel way more comfortable with pencil and tissues for blending in my hand, those tools in photoshop just annoy me sometimes , i wish i could just put my finger on the screen and blend it that way, Its easy for you to say to practise , your art is amazing !Β

TobyFoxArt In reply to Huaanitaa [2013-08-15 21:06:51 +0000 UTC]

Quisiera saber como hacerlo pero sin usar Smudge tool.

Bad English version.
I need to know how to do that without Smudge tool.

TobyFoxArt In reply to Carlostheraz [2013-05-05 20:08:23 +0000 UTC]

This is a beginners guide to skin, so using the smudge tool is for the basics. If you want to do it more advanced use a wacom tablet and brush over, in the same directions as shown in the tutorial, using pressure sensitivity in photoshop. Hope this helped.

Mala versiΓ³n espaΓ±ola.
