If you use the tutorial send me a link and I'll give you any more advice I think you might need.
I'd just like to say this is a beginner's tutorial and this is the method for colouring I used, which served me in good stead whilst I learnt about digital painting, there are other, much better tutorials on deviantArt which can show you more advanced methods of painting.
I made this for myself, so that I had some skin swatches to hand. Then I got ahead of myself and well... here it is.
I'm happy to answer questions.

That's great! I'm so glad to help, as an extra tip, make sure you really do use the darkest colours and look where shadows fall, because they go on all sorts of places on the face.

ive been working on soing alot of painting on my manips... skin tones are hard to achieve and your color swatches were very helpful on learning blending and coloring

It's nice, but I wouldn't suggest encouraging to use smudge. It becomes a bad habit that's hard to break very quickly. I suggest using a hard/soft round brush.

I did say in the artist's comment that it's a beginner's tutorial and that it was the method I used, it was just a method I used before I'd learnt how to properly blend, I actually prefer a speckled brush for blending.
I looked through your gallery and I suggest you try and work in some highlights and much darker shadows into your work. (Sorry if you didn't want me to suggest anything but I'm just trying to be nice.)

You looked in my gallery D: It's full of crap tbh. I ain't that good artists myself, except I know pretty much in theory, I just can't proceed my thought on to paper so well. And the fact that I'm lazy and can't concentrate too long on one piece is a disadvantage.

Your gallery isn't that bad, and knowing the theories will help but if you wanna get better it is about the time you spend on your work I spend between 4 and 12 hours on everything that's intended for deviantArt, even this sketch took just over 4 hours [link] and a full piece will take at least 8 [link] .

That is so true.
But I ain't helping it all myself. I just do quickies and might occasionally have a "a-ha, that should be different" feelings.
