This is so in character that I practically hear their English voices while reading this hear. I wasn't expecting too much when I first started reading this, but now this story is actually starting to suck me in.
I particularly like how you captured Kishimoto's art style. This looks legit.

Nice this works better than shoehorning scenes that never happened in the magna, expect for the time Naruto beat Kiba and the pain arc thing but how that played out was not how it happened in the manga. Can't wait to see where this go and is Sai seeing this or is Naruto's dream doing this?

The Sai that asks Naruto if he regrets is a representation of Naruto's subconscious. The real Sai is outside with Shikamaru, dealing with the giant enemy crab. They can't see what Naruto is seeing.
