Today's picture is the older look of this guy: [link]He's not trying to hide his catches anymore, that's for sure!
I really like clownfish...they have cool patterns. But with a drawing like this, it was pretty much required of me to title it what I did.

Something I'm trying to do is improve my methods for shading...it's slow progress given how little I actually work on stuff these days, but it's progressing.

All good things take time.
As for slow progress, i think the improvements you've made a really very visible. Finer things, like the muscles under the skin, their positions and the lighting and shading effects really look improved noticeably when compared to the previous incarnation of the character - IF ONLY HE NO EAT DA NEMO D:<
I recently have a tablet as of yesterday.
It's...new an experience.
So with that now in mind, anything you do quite frankly I think is outstanding, given how hard the tablets are to work.

Tablets just take some getting used to is all.
When I first got one, I drew a bust of a person and showed it to Asia and she promptly accused me of having used a tablet before, though.

My first attempt is essentially me drawing myself based on a photo.
For the most part, the pen just replaces the mouse. :/

Yeah, that is how it ends up being. I do try to sketch and stuff with it, and it works to some extent...although usually my base pictures are in pencil.
