Thank you very much! Actually no, I've only sold but a few paintings in the last 2 years.Β I've been getting some album cover commissions lately but that's about it.

Ho! Ancient ruins covered in vegetation surrounded by mysterious creatures of another world...
It's a breath-taking sight to behold. A sight that makes your imagination tingle with excitement and awe.
Love the surreal atmosphere this piece generates! Fantastic work, fellow deviant!
This deviation is totally 'd!

Very beautiful.Β There aren't as many obvious ambiguities as there are in a lot of your other pieces (except maybe in the jellyfish-like floating things), but it's beautiful!

Thank you. I think I'll paint 3 more season-themed ruins paintings.

I love the amorphous and ethereal beauty of the underwater fauna that flutter overhead like angelic lights. Saved for my inspiration folder

Thank you. I like to create my own 'luminorphs' as I call them but I also like to barrow from nature through the use of photos.
I love glowing jellyfish and other sea creatures like sea angels as well. They have an otherworldly spirit-like quality.

Thanks. I like to create paintings that are alien yet familiar at the same time.

I wonder, do you ever travel to these places in your imagination? Or through dreams?
π: 0 β©: 1
Tolkyes In reply to CaveofMercury [2018-05-15 02:12:40 +0000 UTC]
Sometimes I have dreams like the places I paint but mostly I create them through my conscious imagination.Β
They are places that I wish existed near where I live which I could visit.
Some of these places are embellished memories from childhood or loosely based on drainage areas, woods and fields around my neighborhood.
I'm also enamored with the ruins and scenery of the British isles.

You can get that feeling, the lands you paint are amalgamations of conscious and unconscious contents, which is the very foundation of exploratory art; a medium more focused on travelling within the spiritual realm rather than capturing the sense perception realm.Β

Yep, it looks like the jellyfish are enjoying themselves in the ruins of this castle.

Beautiful! Lovely soft lighting. And you know how much I love topiary.
I've got a lot more practice ahead of me before I get mist/fog as perfect as yours!

Thank you, Tara. It's easier to paint mist with oils rather than acrylic. I just paint the mist first with mostly titanium white then it stays wet while I work the rest of the surrounding area into it.

I't reminds me a bit of Thomas Kincade, to be honest. I really like they way the sunlight looks.

On acid is a bit of a stretch. I'd say more like 'If Thomas Kinkade did surrealism'.Β
