Description With this I really tried to make the textures and lighting as real as possible (both are weak points of mine)

All done in Cinema 4D and Photoshop

About 2 days working on it on and off.

Great modeling, perspective and viz but, shadows.. I dont know what uses c4d as r/s but somewhere there must be an settings of light n shadow subdivs and so on that you need to raise up

is almost photorealistic, but the edges from the buttons are a little to "soft"

great work

for Cinema 4D, you did a great job. you need to get your hands on a real3D program though. The model, textures, and lighting look fantastic. the only thing that really gives this image away that its a fake is the shadows. i dont blame you, i blame cinema 4d.your specular-level is just right, your mesh 'looks' clean. (i say looks cause i dont know if there are any tri's in this model. though, i dont believe there are. your bevels are clean... the only thing that would spice this up is finger grease! you know... when you work too hard and long at a computer, some keys look greasy/oily. but thats me just being a picky asshole!

3d Studio max, z-brush, photoshop, and mud-box

damn - i hear hints like this so often, maybe you are right; 3D max is much better/easy to use/more powerfull.

to avoid problems with the shapes/shadows with gi i render scenes like this double.

1#:
only the object; no background

2#:
background/environments
object -> render tag (compositing) -> activate compositing background (only one material like gray for the mech)
so you can use a higher setting of stochastic level to get better shapes/shadows without killing your cpu and push render time to extremes.

just activate alpha channel for the first rendering and you have no problem to combine both images in photoshop.

I thought exactly the same as jake, the model looks wonderful, just the shadows are a bit flocky, can't you up the shadow detail somewhere?

Looks good but the shadows look a bit blotchy, did you use GI for the lighting?
