.i am soo canadian and just in case you dont know, [ my american brother ] these go back to french canada in the 15 th century .

The word "tuque" is the Canadian spelling of the french word "toque" which means cap or hat. The word tuque/ toque was adapted in the English vocabulary in Canada as a result of the French Canadian influence.
