Description My Idea of the Original Enterprise Bridge both port and Starboard angles.

A lot of Pain staking Photoshoping went into manipulating this picture originally Modified by Artist BobyE [link]

The Layout is the Star Trek 5 bridge with TOS color scheme. The command chair is from The Enterprise-A while the crew chairs are from Star Trek 1-4.

*Note: One of those red doors is a turbo elevator while the other leads to a Ready Room! Everyone from Archer, Picard, Janeway and Sisco had a Ready Room!!!!
Why Not KIRK?!?!?

Because Kirk was so awesome and good at his job, he didn't need no stinkin' ready room.

A nice what-if concept.

"We attack Nero now. It's our best option."

"Get this pretentious, mouth-breathing, wannabe captain off of MY ship."

"That seems somewhat excessive."

"Look who's talking, you hypocritical, over-emotional jerkass! You threw him off the ship yourself! Load em' into Photon Torpedoes and set course to the Alternate Earth so I can give a particular Starfleet recruitment staff a piece of my mind!"

"Changing course."

(a minute later)

"We have arrived, Captain. The target is in weapons range."

"Torpedoes ready, Keptin, on your order."

"FIRE!!!"

"You do realise that you just did exactly what Nero wanted."

"Of course! Why would I do otherwise?"

"Because, for once, it was a logical course of action."

"Did I just hear a compliment, Mr. Spock?"

"Oh come now, Spock! Give a man his due."

"As I already said, Doctor: It was a logical course of action."

Oh I can't wait for "Into B.S." to come out in a couple weeks. From what I've learned thanks to some spoilers, I am going to HATE this movie. If Nemesis is a short-sited aping of Wrath of Khan then Into B.S. is a full on Unimaginative RIP OFF!!!!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MarkWilder In reply to TonyForever [2013-05-15 20:25:31 +0000 UTC]

I'm actually hoping for that one to be somewhat better: Khan actually isn't the villain.

One thing I saw in the trailer disturbed me greatly, though: a ripoff of the Scene with Spock dying from the Warth of Khan. If they rip that off, especially so soon, I'll give up on the new franchise totally.

And what's your verdict?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MarkWilder In reply to TonyForever [2013-05-28 02:27:10 +0000 UTC]

I'm surprised. I enjoyed all of it EXCEPT the end, which indeed ripped-off Spock's death from The Wrath of Khan.

Aside that, the plot made much, much more sense. Starfleet, and the plot, actually started consistently treating the new Kirk like what he is: a brat with too much ego. Also, Kirk himself wasn't written as a Marty Stu anymore, but like a lucky kid whose luck just ran out. I liked it. Until the end, when that scene was ripped-off. They could have done ANYTHING else. But they didn't.

They're getting smarter, but that's all I can say.

TonyForever In reply to MarkWilder [2013-05-28 05:05:15 +0000 UTC]

I was surprised by it too. I wrote a review on this site which covers my feelings on the film.
I will say that Abrams is not the problem with this film franchise. It's the writers Orci, Kurtzman and that "LOST" loser Lindelof who are the REAL problem.

The writing is lazy and predictable.
The Wrath of Khan "Scene" while thematically made sense, came off more as a Parody rather than a homage.

And Spock saying those famous words......STUPID!!!!

MarkWilder In reply to TonyForever [2013-05-28 16:26:18 +0000 UTC]

Exactly how I feel. Abrams is actually a pretty good director. But with writers like Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman writing everything, we'll continue to get *serious* plot issues, and an intense lack of true Star Trek in general.

I never liked the replacement seats from five onwards. The Chairs from The Motion Picture to the Voyage Home had an ergonomic feel. True they had no seat belts but the lap restraints more than made up for it. I always felt that Kirk's New Chair from Final Frontier should stand out from his crew.

Well, the reason Kirk didn't have a ready room is because they had the briefing room on a lower deck.

So essentially the Enterprise refit's bridge with the original Enterprise's layot and uniforms that are somewhere between the original series uniforms and the "battle jackets" of the movies? Eh, why not? It'd certainly have made for a smoother transition from original to refit (both within and without the Trek universe)...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TonyForever In reply to Triarii [2009-06-17 17:26:27 +0000 UTC]

The new bridge is a cluttered mess with console and tech Graphics that look more like evolution of TNG NOT TOS. The only thing I liked about the new bridge was the big view screen, NOT the whole Window/View Screen thing.

The costumes were hokey too. I felt the classic TOS suits looked better than what I saw in this film. Also the Starfleet suits from the beginning of the film looked like the Alternate 25th century Starfleet uniforms from "All Good Things"

The fact that this is an alternate time line instead of the Prime Universe makes me care little for this Crap!

Al-Ocramed In reply to TonyForever [2010-03-11 09:28:33 +0000 UTC]

Actually, and sorry for the lateness, I thought the uniforms and the Bridge was fine. It's cadet uniforms and engineering room that was ghastly...

But, JMO.

Yeah I hated the Beer-Engine Room. And the With how the starfleet uniforms looked through out the film, the Cadet uniforms were out of place.

OK, first of all, when exactly did I mention the new movie? The "battle jackets", I was refering to are the uniforms they wear from the second to seventh movies... They are also the uniforms the Enterprise-Cs crew is wearing in TNG: Yesterday's Enterprise...

[link] )

...and the "Enterprise refit" is just the Enterprise as it was in the first to sixth movies...

Seriously, what exactly made you think that I was talking about the new movies?

Triarii In reply to TonyForever [2009-06-24 09:02:27 +0000 UTC]

Hmm, that last comment of mine was rather curt... I apologise if it came across as rude... I was in a real hurry when I entred and I wasn't really paying attention to what I was typing...

All I was trying to say was that when I talked about the "movies", I was refering to movies 1-6 (and, to a small extent, 7), not to Star Trek XI... I would agree with you that Star Trek XI's bridges are far too busy...

TonyForever In reply to Triarii [2009-06-25 04:38:55 +0000 UTC]

No Harm, No Foul. Life is too short to be Butt Hurt.

I understood your early comments, I was giving more of my thoughts of the bridge I worked on but then I got on my soap box when I compared the bridge I did with the new one. (I really didn't like anything about that film as you can probably tell).

As far as my uniform redesigns, I got the idea from the field jackets they wore in "The Cage". Mixed in some things I liked from The Motion Picture and meshed it with the TOS look. I think they are a better evolution to the Uniforms from 2 to 7.

I am altering my Crew pictures to have them in the Movie uniforms. mostly due to requests. I'll post them when they are done.

I always liked the Star Trek 5/6 bridges. I liked the Layout of 5 while the color scheme of 6 was more like the Classic bridge of TOS.

I did like the old Bridge from the early films but I always thought Mechanics were a Very Radical departure from what came before.

BTW: Yeah this was a pain to tweak the image. But like I said those are the things I liked over all of the Bridges of the 1st six films.

I can't help but get on my Soap box,

but if your going to do a retelling of Classic Star Trek, Be faithful to the original. Not making an iPod bridge that is more like a TNG concept.

Not to mention telling the public it's cannon, then Lying and then telling a BS logic behind the movie.
It's a DAMN REBOOT and NOT going to fit with CANNON!

I don't want to get started on the J.J. Turkey-Prise
I'm going to see the new movie when it comes out, but I have no guarantee of liking it.
