This is another shot from one of my old calendars. The model Stacey is one of the more powerful personalities that I have used in the series. Amazing looks but an even more powerful inner self. These days I teach photography and one of the best pieces of advice I give is to connect with yourself and your subject at a deep level.I believe that most humans are self absorbed. That we have been hurt and dis appointed in life and carry around emotional baggage. This baggage often comes out when people are faced with a camera. However when a model can let go of baggage and be fully present as who they really are the results are so empowering.
In this shot I beleive that Stacey is so free and in the moment. She is not concerned about the camera or for this moment life's struggles. Given that her inner sensitivity is so powerful when she is free and enjoying herself being in her presence is so inspiring. I am hoping that seeing and feeling this shot will inspire those who view it.

I love this photograph, but the comment you made makes me appreciate this even more. What you say is indeed true; everyone's inner self shines through any lens they're under. I am someone who just started photography as a hobby, and seeing this makes me realize how important this concept is, not only for those whom my camera captures, but myself as well. Thanks for commenting. I think being self aware is perhaps the most important aspect of photography and life. We all carry such a range of emotions and thoughts. Really important as a photographer to go deep enough to present transparent images that are not protecting what we really feel.

I agree that she's got nice abdominals going on, but the arms could use some work :/ And maybe the pectorals, but I guess I'm just being picky.

Everything about this image is eye-catching. From her brilliant smile to the various blues and earth tones, and the great way they work together. Nicely done sir! I"m all for the moody model pose, it has it's place, but I sure love to see a bright smile, and a vibrant model who absolutely shines in a photo, and she certainly does, I hope to achieve this myself one day, I'm aiming for your apparent ease with the model here, I'm aiming high!

Thanks very much for your comments. I find that the best way to connect with people/models is to be very self aware yourself. I am really sensitive to feeling other people's feelings. As such at times I ca get overwhelmed and stressed. Being aware to this helps me to calm myself and the model.
