Deathstroke the Terminator + Grim Reaper

Slade Williams, some say, was just born bad. He got into trouble at an early age, often and in progressively worse crimes. He gained some in roads in InterMaggia by the time he was sixteen. However, by the time he was 18, he enlisted in the Army. He rose in the ranks and attention and qualified for several programs, such as one taught by Adeline Sinclair (code-name Nekra) where he learned new fighting techniques. He soon mastered every fighting technique taught to him, and became an enlisted officer rising to the rank of Lieutenant. He and Adeline married and had a child, Grant. Adeline had connections with S.W.A.R.M. undercover agents in the Army, running experiments to re-invent the Super Soldier serum from WWII. She convinced Slade to volunteer, and the experiment was deemed a failure when Slade fell into a coma. However, he later awoke, but not until after he was clinically dead for an extended period of time. Slade discovered he could use 90% of his brain, and his strength, durability, and agility were increased to meta-human levels. He tried to re-apply for service in the army but was refused. Adeline became pregnant with their second child. Desperate for fulfillment in his life, and to earn a living to support his family, Slade became a mercenary and assassin, taking up contracts through InterMaggia. During one outing, Slade was caught in a bomb explosion, taking his right hand and part of his arm, as well as his right eye. Seeking out a villainous armorer he knew from InterMaggia, Widget (Phineus O'Jeneus), Slade commissioned the creation of high tech scythe, and he then stylized his Deathstroke persona more toward this grim reaper look.

His son, Grant, grew up idolizing him, though his parents were separated by this point. Deathstroke was approached with a contract from S.W.A.R.M. to destroy the Justice League Avengers, but he refused. S.W.A.R.M. then recruited his son, Grant and attempted to recreate the experiment that created Deathstroke, but this time with more ionic energy. Although the experiment seemed to be a success, Grant was being killed slowly by his powers, but Grant assumed his father was jealous. Grant, as Wonder Warrior, attacked the Avengers with a team lead by Brother Zemo, but turned on the S.W.A.R.M. villains. By this point, Grant's powers seemed to kill him, but like his father, he had fallen into a coma. Dr. Hank Hol saved Grant's brain engrams so that he could hopefully save him, and later put those engrams into Vortex the synthezoid.

Deathstroke was angered by Grant's refusal to follow through on his contract, feeling an obligation to take up the contract himself. To make this decision easier, he blamed the JLA:WC for Grant's death, and later enraged that the Vortex was a mockery of his son, a marrionette (he believed) at the JLA:WC's control. He has since made it is goal to destroy the Justice Leage Avengers, though this remains the only contract he has not fulfilled.

Meta backstory: This is the idea that popped into my head that lead to the creation of S.W.A.R.M., Vortex, Brother Zemo (and all the amalgams in their backstories). Envisioning Deathstroke with a scythe was just so exciting, I couldn't wait to draw it, but I really wanted to do it "right". I hope you like this as much as I liked making it. The Grim Reaper part of this amalgam lent the story more to the Avengers/JLA rather than Teen Titans (Young Avengers, maybe?). If there is a TT/YA amalgam, though and that includes the young, recreated Vortex, then I'm sure they would attract the Reaper's attention.
