Cyborg + Iron Lad (with some Cable thrown in for seasoning)

Nathaniel "Nate" Stone is from the future, growing up a technological utopia. Nate was a skilled engineer, studying advanced techniques in mechanics and computer programming. Late one day, walking through the campus of his school, Nate was attacked by enemies that acted like they knew him. He did not recognize them at all and fled. The attackers blasted him with energy weapons, destroying most of his body. Suddenly a caped figure appeared from nowhere and destroyed the enemies that had shot him. This being takes Nate to the far future and turns nate into a cyborg, replacing his destroyed body with advanced technology. When Nate recovered enough and was trained to use his new limbs, his rescuer, who called himself Kang, the Time Conqueror took him on a tour of the time, showing him many of the greatest battles that Kang had won. The Time Conqueror revealed that he was Nate from the future and encouraged the young man to embrace his destiny. Nate rejected Time Conqueror, however, and took the time travel technology in his armor and went back in time to seek help from the Time Conqueror's enemies. He had seen in the histories that a young group of heroes, inspired by the Justice League Avengers, was going to form to protect the earth from the demon Belasgon. He concluded that the most likely people who could help him were heroes his own age.

Calling himself Prometheus after the metal of his limbs (Promethium), and also giving a nod to himself bringing back knowledge and technology from the future, the first thing he did was try to resurrect Vortex, creating Vy Vortex instead. His history books had not indicated this would happen, which gave him some hope that time, and maybe his destiny, were not immutable. Prometheus has an AI that manifests as a "bombshell" tattoo on his cybernetic left arm, which is able to feed him strategies and historical knowledge. the AI is named Belle. He used another AI program that he had as a back-up to repair Vortex' shattered engrams.

At some point, the Teen Avengers have to deal with an alternate future where (in a dark parallel to Nate's own fears), one of the Teen Avengers, Corvid, had become the evil ruler of the world, Shadow Monarch. It was during this mission that Prometheus met Vance Rider, another time traveler. Vance revealed to Nate that Kang the Time Conqueror was someone named Rokk T'Naga, an old friend of his. However, it seems that the Time Conqueror's identity is malleable, and subject to vagaries in the timeline. In fact, there turns out to be a Council of Time Conqueror's, where many different variants of Kang from different timelines meet. So Nate knows that he still must remain vigilant lest he find that in his reality, his destiny IS to become the villainous time traveler.

Meta Backstory
Prometheus has been mentioned a couple times already in other people's backstories. I knew he had to be Cyborg and Iron Lad, being one of the ORIGINAL ideas I had for the Teen Avengers. As an amalgam of a new Teen Titan and Young Avenger, he is one of two such characters I have for certain (the other being Strix, which will be Robin/Nightwing + Hawkeye/Kate) that are amalgamed from main team members. As I worked out his story in some of the other profiles, I realized there was going to be naturally occuring elements that would bring to mind Cable (time traveling cyborg named Nate coming back to join a hero team...). I debated on HOW much Cable would be involved, actually writing up a story where Nate was a resistance fighter in the battle against the Shadow Monarch. It just never jelled and my friend suggested I was putting too much on this poor guy. So I ditched that. One of the Time Trappers was revealled to be a character named Rokk (Cosmic Boy) and I really liked the synergy of Nate having the last name Stone, and one of the Time Conquerors being Rokk. I did add the AI in his cyborg arm from Cable, because I had already revealed he used a spare AI to fix Vortex, and I made his white sound cannon look like a big ass 90's era Liefeld gun. Finally. There was never, ever ever any thought given to mix Deathlok (another cyborg) into this character. Again, that was too much. However, using Iron Lad's color scheme and Cyborg's look... man, if it's hard to not see Deathlok in there. I even gave him an AI to talk to (like Deathlok's 'puter)... but this is pretty standard time traveler stuff (Booster Gold, Dr. Sam Beckett... sorta) so yeah.
