Monsieur Mallah + Peotr, Soviet Super Ape (+Magneto)

Peotr Mallah is a metamutant orangutan villain from Ape City in Skartaris, the Savaged Land. The apes of Ape City were 'awakened' by the White Badoon during their attack of the Earth... at sometime in Earth's history (or future...). They were awakened to be used as soldiers, this tactic reduced the need for the White Badoon to transport their own soldiers across space to lay siege to Earth. Unfortunately (for them) the apes overthrew their masters, giving the humans the edge they needed to win the war. However, the apes were none too pleased with humans either, and they and the humans became enemies.

At some point, somehow, one of the ape cities was displaced in time and transported to the weird world of Skartaris. When some left Skartaris, they learned that the earth outside their pocket realm was an Earth untouched by White Badoon invasion. This lead some apes, such as King Alpha Solovar to seek peace with the humans, especially in the Savaged Land, while others like Miklho Grodd would never accept peace and continued to fight. Peotr falls more in line with Miklho, and is at odds with Solovar's attempts at peace. Peotr, however, is somewhat mistrustful of even his "ally" Grodd, and invented his helmet to keep Grodd from reading his mind, a helmet that proved useful in the outside world and the superheroic telepaths there. He views himself as a revolutionary for Ape Rights, has devised plans to awaken more apes in the outside world, and, frankly, just likes to cause trouble. To that end, he and his partner Pyromania formed the Evil Brotherhood. The number of apes in the entire City of the Apes would not be able to do much to the civilizations in the outside world, so he knew he would have to ally with humans who wish to sow as much chaos as he... even if he needs to betray them later when his goals are closer in sight. He recruited the chaotic Raven Maximoff and her (unbeknownst at the time) brother Pietro into his Evil Brotherhood, but they eventually left the group.

Monsieur Magnetite (as he goes by in the outside world) has great powers of magnetism, is super intelligent, and has an orangutan's strength that he's not afraid to use in combat with lesser humans.

Meta-backstory: Oh, man, I can't wait to write up more on Skartaris, the Savaged Land, and this ape who operates mostly in the outside world was a good chance to start to explore that world. Monsieur Magnetite has very very little magneto in his background, and there's a reason. I wanted a character to recruit Raven and Pietro into an evil superteam before their heroic turn, but I did not want to raise the specter of Magneto's fatherhood of the twins, since the Joker was their father and I didn't want to muddy that history. I had already decided on the Evil Brotherhood as the team (natch, I mean.... the Brotherhood of Evil and the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants has practically the same name anyway) so I noticed the character of Monsieur Mallah and remembered one of Red Ghost's super apes had magnetic powers. bam. Still, to underscore the role I did add a magneto helmet, and decided Monsieur Magnetite might be more powerful than just Peotr a power boost courtesy of a dash of Magneto added in. But most importantly, there is no confusion going forward that he has anything to do with Raven and Pietro's parantage Also, I know Mallah usually only has a rather mundane rifle/assault rifle, but I really enjoyed drawing the Image era 90's comic book gun.

The amalgam world that started with Raven Maximoff has been a blast, and every character needed to fill a role in someone's story, has opened up more doors when I've gone to tell their story! awesome!
