Description
Please note these are not ALL the features carameleons may have, they are simply variables that many may have and are not unique traits.BLUE = COMMON
ORANGE = UNCOMMON
PINK = RARE
Wings
- Batty/Batlike (Common)
- Feathery/Birdlike (Common)
- Buggy/Buglike (Uncommon)
Type of wings don't mean much in regards to flying, families of carameleon are most likely to have the same type of wings. Those with batlike wings may be more likely to eat good dreams and those with birdlike wings may be more likely to eat bad dreams but only slightly.
Tongues
- Round (Common)
- Forked (Uncommon)
- Trident (Rare)
Carameleon tongues are long and sticky. They can be extended far and can be used to gulp down big chunks of dream at a time. The quicker/more the carameleon eats, the more detailed and memorable a dream will be to the dreamer. This is especially true for those with the forked or trident tongues who can filter out the parts of the dream faster and who can eat quicker than those with the round tongue. The tongue doesn't have any indication of how much an individual carameleon can/will eat though.
Horns
- Single nose (common)
- Double nose (uncommon)
- Single Jaw (uncommon)
- Double Jaw (uncommon)
- Double Head (common)
- Unihorn (Rare)
Horns are pretty much just there to look pretty. Rarely carameleons may get into a fight and the horns can be used for intimidation, almost never for inflicting injuries. Carameleons with a unihorn are considered lucky.
Tails
- Feathered (common)
- Furry (uncommon)
- Spiky (uncommon)
- Long (rare)
Almost 90% will have the feathered variation, each feather can be a different colour and may have 3 - 6 growing from the tail. Long tails include one long feather that grows around the tail, usually larger and more powerful carameleon will grow tails like this. Furry and Spiky tails are oddities and generally undesirable as they are said to encourage dreams that won't be remembered and restless-feeling sleep.Β
Dream Catchers
- Web (Common)
- Flower (uncommon)
- Wavy (uncommon)
- Star (rare)
Pictures above are just guides and dream catchers can look much different than the above and still be the respected type. The star type can be considered very good luck or very bad luck depending on the culture, the web type is supposed to be the most effective for the carameleon catching dreams to eat. The flower and wavy types are loved just because they look pretty but may be less effective than the web type dream catcher.
Catcher Bead
- Single (common)
- Big (uncommon)
- Shaped (uncommon)
- Big with marking (rare)
- Multiple beads (not pictured - rare)
The bead is a very important part of the carameleon's dream catcher. Unfortunately there are many details surrounding them so they will need a separate guide. The colour and type of the bead may indicate the types of dreams that will filter out for the dreamer, as well as the power the carameleon may have. Example: a pink bead will indicate a dream with feelings of love, a black bead may be a nightmare and a bead in the shape of a lightning bolt may indicate shocking dreams (likeΒ tripping over, or being shocked by lightning even).

I think that's meant to be a web catcher, @/rainywren now owns the species so I don't know what they might have changed about the species refs.Β
