Description This is about the closest this wild coyote let me get to her. I was excited to get home and see the details in some of these images.

In particular, I like the detail shown in her eye, it seems to give away her intelligence.

As a species, coyote's have adapted to a wide variety of environments ranging from Panama and Mexico all the way north to Canada, and are generally considered to be one of the most intelligent predators in North America.

There are stories of coyotes creating diversions, luring prey into killing distance, or picnickers away from their lunches. They've also been known to scare rabbits into passing vehicles thereby avoiding a chase which may or may not prove fruitful.

great shot! I love how the tall brush is in front of her face.
It's almost like she is sticking out her tongue and saying "na-na-na-na-na you can't take a pic of me!"

What month would you recommend going to Utah? Next year I plan on taking a ride out west there.

yeahh. well. idk really. never seen one but even just from your pictures you can see that they calculate their moves exactly. they seem very intelligent animals, kind of like wolves.

You can really see she's up to something indeed, or at least not just wandering around... and how close were you to her?? it's such a brilliant close-up

At this point she was very close, maybe 15 feet or so, the details turned out great, I was pretty glad I got a nice clean image.

It seems like you had quite an amazing experience getting the shots of this coyote. I like this picture and the previous one of her leaping. As a combo, they show off the physical capabilities of the species and also the quiet, resigned intelligence of the species and this individual in particular. I feel like you represented them really well.
