Description
I wasn't exactly sure where to categorize this...this is a marionette puppet I made first semester for the final project based off of this sketch [link]
Her face is made from paper clay and then painted, her skeleton was constructed out of styrofoam and straws, I have a pretty cool picture of it on my phone I'll have to upload sometime. Her body was covered with fabric. Her limbs were covered with paper mache.
She's no longer functional as a marionette puppet, but is a neat little sculpture. She's probably the most favorite thing I've ever made and I'm not exactly sure why, she's just my baby.

Seeing one of those doodles come to life in 3-dimensional space is a little frightening.
Do you remember Takashi Murakami's work? It reminds me a little of his stuff in a way, in that it is intentionally childish with it's fantastically surreal qualities.

duuuuudddee I was just watching one of his animations for a Louis Vuitton commercial yesterday, and I was talking about how I remember his 3 sculptures at the walker that arent there anymore and how they were me, Ally, and Elise...and then I was talking about the wall paper and the sculpture he has at the MIA that I just saw over spring break....good times.
you're so lucky Ian, you can go into the MIA whenever you want.
I got the Nelson but the collection isn't nearly as big, but what they lack in size they make up for in quality, they have some really nice pieces..
anyway, Takashi Murakami!!!

good times, good times.
The MIA is nice, and the special exhibitions are free to MCAD students, Fuck yeah!
I have to write a paper on Murakami's piece at the MIA later tonight, so he was on my mind already, but I think even if he wasn't I would've thought about him in relation to your little deer.

yeah, I've also got a lot of people saying it looks like a Miyazaki character which I can also see, either way I adore both artists so it works
