Roy's not scared enough in the first panel. He should be slowly backing away, eyes should be bugging out, jaw should be dropped, pants should be pissed.

Frozen in his tracks also works for body language. That's a viable option. Which is what I did here. I do agree with you in terms of facial expression though.
