This was going to start out just as a portrait-style environment illustration, and I eventually decided to inject the “WEST” posse into it since it made me think of them!

That's what she's probably telling Abigail about haha. While that's true, she's also a magical creature as well so I doubt she'd get soggy to the point of falling apart or something. Would just be annoying since even in the desert sun she'd take a while to dry out.

The character designs for this are just fantastic. There's an element of cultural fusion to most of them (Baron Samedi + Sergeant Pepper's and Monkey + Native American) but it feels fresh and fairly subtle to me.
