Description
A long-promised tutorial! I have more up my sleeve for the future. It's hard to cover all eventualities with sky, but I tried to give you a grounding to work from so you can make your own things up. Hopefully some of you will find it useful, anyway.
It's been a while since I've submitted a (serious) tutorial, and I figure you guys like them because I've had an obscene number of
Enjoy!
If there are any typos, I'll 1) seethe and stomp about and 2) fix 'em

Yummy stuff.
Good explaining, I like that ^^
I think I might use this later on, and if not, I've got something to give my friends when they ask me how to draw clouds

that provides loads of info - Thanks
also some clarification for a basic CG newb....
what's the importance of flow? etc
density i can see when i select it - aka number of spots/grains of colour touching the page (i use paintshop pro - cos the stupid PS doesn't wanna work )
but flow (flow of ink?) how does that affect the effect of a picture? and hardness....well - yur pics sorta showed that one...
yeah - i guess flow was the one thing i don't really understand - mostly use 100%....but how does reducing it change things? i've used 50% and 10% (10% results with nothing showing up ) and i haven't noticed any difference in the amount of colour showing on the layer.
generally i use paintbrush function with various sizes and opacity - flow and density are options..but i don't really use them? would changing density provide a texture? like gravelly roads or something? or does one just change the nib from round to square or something?
if you can spare some tips, i'd be appreciated

It should apply to PSP as well, I hope - it uses basic brush techniques. If you need any help in particular about PSP I'll download a trial copy and see if I can work out how they match up I've used it before.
The main difference that I can think of is that PSP might not offer flow rate for brushes but I'm fairly sure it does opacity - you could try different brushes to get the same textures? =/

Foxbane's techniques will totally work in PSP, and pretty much any other painting program. I've used them in PSP for ages, and now in Artweaver (which is free, and I like free stuff ).
That's the great thing about this - you don't need fancy specialist brushes and filters (which frankly get in the way of a good pic most of the time), so you can do it in any half-decent program.
Fantastic tutorial, Foxbane! Makes me want to get back into straight digital painting again. I just wish my 'ooter didn't chug so much...
