Description
I'm really, really sorry about the lack of update, guys. Struggling a lot with the comic lately.I put this panel process rundown together for Draw! recently, though, and even though it's not very exciting, I figured at least it's something I could share in the meantime.
This process has gotten vastly more complicated since I started working on Lackadaisy. Pages used to be almost 100% pencil with just a little sepia tone added digitally. Now, after penciling, a panel often requires hours of additional work. (Put 12 or 15 panels together per page, and it adds up to at least part of the reason I fail so hard at regular updates.)

Other Lackadaisy stuff is here . Twitter and Facebook announce site updates too.

To be honest, your work in pencil is already amazing to me, let alone the digital work. You're so...diligent! I love that you care enough to draw the adorable little plates inside the office and the fan in the window and the individual pieces of jewelry in the display case.

You put so much work into each piece. I won't be original when I'll tell you that your art is simply amazing and it's a pleasure reading each page of Lackadaisy

Hmmm, I'd never thought of layering two different lightings together to get a stronger contrast. I'll have to try that sometime. I do a detailed greyscale pencil comic too, but I do most all the shading in pencil and only do touch-ups in photoshop. I don't have the patience to do it digitally. Also doesn'ty help that the computer screen hurts my eyes.

Wow, this is fantastic! It's really neat to see all the steps involved, and it's just for one panel.

Even without regular updates this comic keeps me excited. I've always wondered how much work goes into a panel, with this much care and amount of work it's no wonder it takes so long.
But hey, the results are amazing! The waits are often more than worth it.

Very nice! It would never have occured to me to do things that way - starting with the darkened image and then working in light and dark parts. It reminds me of working with white and black chalc/pastels on a grey paper.
Thanks for sharing!

I love seeing your process! The details are amazing when you see the obvious time and effort in each stage. Your style is amazing in the finished product, but I love seeing the sketch all the way through.

In the definition that you leave me speechless in awe of your talent, dedication, skill and sheer amount of time you put into this wonderful work of art. One. Single.Panel. At. A. Time.
I'm gonna have to buy a copy of this comic. Just so I can keep it and treasure it forever. And to support such a marvoluse work in progress.
Bravo and Encore <3

Your work is so amazingly beautiful. Every time I see an update from you I can only imagine it must have taken hours to get it finished. I'm in such awe at your absolute attention to detail. The thread in your wooden posts, the amount of items you can see sitting inside that shop, the fact that you've detailed every brick, and especially the reflection of the town in the darkened windows. Even a single panel of your artwork carries such an amazing feel of atmosphere to it that I could get lost in it and just appreciate it for hours.
