Probably one of if one the most classic passengers diesel Locomotive ever built in America. Second best to the F40PH. Built in Schenectady, New York, in the United States by the American Locomotive Company (ALCO). The Alco PA - PB are a class of 6 wheeled 2,000 hp (1,490 kW) passenger locomotive. While not as reliable as EMD E-units. The PA - PB made a impacted on railroading. Most well know was there Sluggish turbo Chargers when starting up Made then shoot a large plum of Thick black smoke up into the air giving Alco's the nickname (Honorary Steam Locomotives)

250 PA's and 47 PB's were built all were scraped with the exception of 5. 4 PA's and 1 PB.

After running passenger trains on the Delaware and Hudson and one the national railways of Mexico. 4 of the D&H (Formally AT&SF) Were Damaged in wreaks. Two were rebuilt one was put display in a Railway Museum in Mexico. While the other would be put into serves painted into a Paint job inspired by Southern Pacific's Daylight paints.

The remaining two Alco PA's were reimported back to the United States, Under two owners. D&H No.18 is owned by Doyle McCormack and has been undergoing restoration since 2002. It is being restored as Nickel Plate Road 190, a recreation of the first locomotive McCormack got to ride.

D&H No.16, which was heavily damaged in a derailment while in Mexico, Was acquired by the Museum of the American Railroad in 2011 and transported to the museum's new site in Frisco, Texas. Will be restored to full operating conduction.

The Alco PB Ex-Denver and Rio Grande 6002 was converted to a steam generator car in October 1965; it gained Blomberg B trucks in 1980 for service on the ski train.
