Mostly got this reference because of the Megaman: the Series fanfiction universe on the Mega Man Homepage. Though I do vaguely remember seeing a little bit of Captain N when I was like 5 or something. XD;
Though what really gets me is the bottom panel. You get such big bromance vibes from it, it's so cute. ^^

Funny thing I read Pit's dialog with Anthony Del Rio's voice, but I read Mega Man's dialog with his original Captain N voice. I wonder what they'll do for voice acting, if any.

I wonder who owns the rights to Captain N, or if Nintendo would even pursue it. Because, seriously, Pause button, Zapper, crazy acrobatics, dog assist - he's got the makings of a good moveset. And oh man, the nostalgias.

Sakurai, the director/creator of SSB. When it comes to selecting characters for Smash Bros, they must fit these two requirements: It must have originated as a VG character and has appeared in at least one Nintendo game. Wii Fit Trainer fit those requirements and is a pretty unique addition. Captain N didn't start off as a VG character, but a TV character like Ash Ketchum so he can't be in SSB.

That's understandable. And yet I heard someone actually complain about why Pokemon Trainer wasn't just called Ash in Brawl.

the trainer in brawl was quite likely Red, from Pokemon Red and Blue, he's a completely different person to the protagonist of the Pokemon Anime series.

Same here, but considering what Sakurai said about including more 3rd party characters would lose focus for Smash Bros (since it was always about Nintendo characters, not various companies' VG characters fighting one another.), it's unlikely. If the maximum number of 3rd party characters in SSB is 2 like in Brawl, we may lose Sonic and Snake for SSB4.
