Description
A comic I made earlier this year focusing on evolution on a planet with lower gravity and colder climate. After another hundred million years or so, the descendants of small, endothermic creatures have diversified into a wide range of forms. Among these is a species with comparable intelligence to early humans. Like most members of their clade, their bodies are shrouded in a dense coat of multilayered fur. Their "legs" are in fact highly derived jointed hair follicles themselves, being capable of a wide range of motion and force with relatively little muscle mass, making them efficient striders. The thin atmosphere has not been conductive to hearing organs. Instead, they communicate with large, silicone-shielded compound eyes, whose thousands of individual lenses shift rapidly to reflect different colors to convey meaning and thoughts. This tribe is searching for a new home under the light of the nightly aurora, much brighter on this world than on Earth. As some members lag behind, they risk attack by opportunistic leaping predators. An intimidation strike of a speartip sends a shower of sparks upon the startled hunters, which retreat. Enraptured by this discovery, the tribe makes its encampment within a mountain cave. Normally too chilly even for them, the fire brings warmth and keeps predators at bay, giving them a chance for they and their children to see another day...Related content
