i really like this one. why is airrazor and gnaw in the last scene? is that beast wars buzzsaw flying around? and are those seekers in the first panel? i dont get why all the comments say that beachcomber is a hippie. i like the the design of beachcomber, which toy version is this?

Airrazor, Gnaw and the Buzzsaw-like creature are just some technorganic robots that BeachComber is hinding underground, to protect them from the hostile cybertronian society (remember BlackArachnia and the giant spiders...). The planes in the first panel are just generic Autobot jets (except for Powerglide!). Beachcomber is not exactly based on a toy, it's mostly a design created by

Why is Cosmos calling himself Unit 1 after Thrust just called himself Unit 1?

"Unit 1" is meant as a collective name: they are both part of the unit. (It's Powerglide, not Thrust

That's so true, especially after a bath in Electrum. But I think good old Beachcomber would keep his vision for himself (and they wouldn't be something like "a mythical supercomputer showed me the way!") ^^

I just curious which continuity (if any) this story belongs in. I assume it's part of Animated based on Beachcomber's look and the TFA logo treatment.
But Cosmos & Powerglide look like their G1 Marvel Comics selves (issues 17 & 18). If that is the case, Beachcomber was part of the Autobot resistance against Straxus and would not be a "renegade" on the run from his own comrades. They were all renegades on the run from The Decepticons. The landscapes also have a lot of the wasteland look of the Marvel Cybertron in those issues.
Beachcomber also mentions "The High Council" which suggests a connection to the Dreamwave War Within era stories or the IDW Megatron Origin stories.
I think the story is neat. The art & colors are nice. Just wondering where it fits in.

It should be part of the Animated continuity. I stress the "should" because in Animated there will be an official Beachcomber with a different look (a thing we did not know when we started this piece).
But given that Jetfire/Jetstorm should be the first present-era flying bots (or so I seem to recall), I'd suggest that our piece takes places in the remote past of Animated: hence a different landscape, different style in some bots (in trut, a homage) and a different command structure (the High Council is meant as a tribute to War Within).
