Oh gods... this is such a sad Mosaic.... T___T Beautifully written and drawn... Seeing First Aid's arm slowly disintergrating gave me shudders! First Aid's quiet, strong resolution is just so... it's hard to put it into words. As others have said, incredibly brave, and also really, really depressing. ;__; This Mosaic really hit an emotional nerve, here. Poor First Aid.

I think Grungewerx mentioned that he would like to see the same team work in perhaps a new venue.... funny you should mention it, but we are working on something... I will let you guys know when that happens. I do have a few mosaics written for the 1 year anniversary!

Cool reference to War Journal (or so it would appear; I could be wrong), but what I like most about this Mosaic is that it really brings home the work of not only First Aid, but of Ratchet too - after all, Ratchet did come up with the meltdown protocols to begin with.
It strikes me as very apropos that First Aid should go out the way he did in this piece. A marvelous piece all around.

Although sad, it is a good story.
However, I'm surprised no one else mentioned this before me: Wouldn't it have been better to let the Decepticons in to get infected too??
If all the other Autobots went into quarentine instead of First Aid, then they could just let Cosmic Rust wipe out the Decepticons and they could keep the planet from falling into Decepticon hands.

...my heart's crying. Poor First Aid. I don't think I'd be able to do that, to just quietly accept the reality of the situation. Makes me think of people that have to make that very same decision in real life...

This is one of my FAVORITE mosaics!!
The story, art, word balloons and lettering on this is phenomenal.
I'd be very interested in seeing another collaboration from this team again on similar subject matter or perhaps in some other venue.

The point of this is eloquetly sad. My only question is that at the rate the Rust consumed First Aid's arm and then the base itself in the comic, its highly unlikely that Mudslick would manage to get into the Infirmatry without there being some indication of him having it, and hence the medical protocols being somewhat different--possibly.
