Β You kill the guy, that is fine, no problem: self defence (unless you invaded his home just to kill and loot, what almost never happen). But then, what used to be his should probably go to a heir of some sort, probably. Well, animals will be used for leather and meat, but "talking animals" are people, are they not? War rights? War rights make sense, you won you can do as you please, Ancien Greeks and Romans would agree, as almost any other civilization up to 1800 give or take. However, for the same irreproachable logic they all would also sell the defeated's childrens, women and elders in the nearest slave market: make sense! You took all they need to survive, why do you let them behind?
