Douglas B-66B-DL 53-505 actually had a very brief and unremarkable career. Entering service with the 85th Bomber Squadron, 47th Bomber Wing in 1958, she was deployed to RAF Sculthorpe. The deployment lasted until the 22nd of June 1962, when the 47th was stood down. While most of the 47th B-66B's were converted to EB-66B standard, 53-505 was not so lucky: she was salvaged at the AMARC bone yard in 1964, providing spare parts for other B-66s.

The B-66 and A-3 actually shared very few parts. While the concept was a 'land-based A-3', the B-66 saw so many modifications that the two aircraft were basically two entirely different designs.
