I drew this a couple of years ago as a graphics project. My task was to create some sort of Japanese character in the style of Sanrio (Hello Kitty's makers). This is a cartoon kokeshi (traditional Japanese doll). You wouldn't believe the amount of time I spent studying Sanrio characters, looking at the precise colours and head-to-body rations used to achieve the maximum cuteness.
