I didn’t even realize it’s the 30th anniversary of “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” this year. This was a personal project I started a long while ago when my work was becoming very frustrating, despite my efforts. Professional work gets that way sometimes.Cartoons are always fun to work on, and there was some potential that I was going to sculpting this character for my professional work. That fell through, but I thought it would still be a really fun one to sculpt.
I wanted to do something different than her classic look, so I went with the hot nurse version from “Tummy Trouble”. I watched that cartoon short so much as a kid because I loved “Honey I Shrunk The Kids”, and it played before that movie on the VHS.
This was sculpted in wax at about 5” tall. Final resin piece painted in acrylic. I had such fun with her I think I’ll turn the sculpt into a classic version and probably a “Trail Mix-Up” version too, eventually. I’d love to sculpt Roger and Baby Herman as well. Fun stuff.

I work so much on professional projects that it's hard for me to take on requests or commissions in my free-time. I tend to try to reserve that limited amount of time to work on stuff like this. It takes months and months for me to finish even a small thing like this because of the small window of time I tend to have away from work. Thank you for asking!

So well done! I've seen so many people attempt to draw and sculpt Jessica and never get it quite on model. Your phenomenal ability to capture likeness shines again! She's perfect!

Thank you so much, it means a lot! She definitely changes subtly even from animator to animator. I'm going to see if I can alter the wax into other versions of her, it's been a fun little side project. I'm kind of dying to make a little Baby Herman too...probably in-between takes enjoying a stogie and getting pissed at some script changes.

Haha! I have a vision in mind for Baby Herman that would be a funny compliment to this little Jessica... I'll have to spend some time on that.
I think for the classic dress I'll have Jessica singing seductively on a piano. I've gotta figure out how to paint her dress in a cool sparkly way. Should be fun.....and it should only take me 6 months to finish it in my free time. ha!

I do tend to make things tiny... I think it's because I know it's going to have to be developed slowly in my free time, so the smaller it is the better chance I have of getting it done.
